Sr. Design Engineer

Job description

Senior Design engineers use their knowledge of design principles, engineering, and computer software to create products. They work on projects across many industries, including automotive, mechanical, and electrical.

Responsibilities

Planning: Research and plan new projects, and consult with clients to determine requirements

Designing: Create designs for products, components, and prototypes using CAD systems

Testing: Test designs for safety, usability, and environmental impact

Analyzing: Analyze data from tests, and conduct root cause failure analyses

Communicating: Present designs to clients, and communicate with colleagues and contractors

Improving: Improve existing products and processes to save costs and increase efficiency

Supporting: Support other engineers, technicians, and designers

Create 3D models, assemblies, and drawings

Analyze and render engineering designs

Review and revise designs

Communicate with clients and other teams

Maintain and update CAD libraries

Create technical documentation

Conduct design reviews

Support production, quality, marketing, and sales departments

Research and develop new products

Create Electrical Layouts and Electrical Designs

Skills and qualifications

Strong attention to detail

Creative flair

Project management skills

Knowledge of 3D design, modeling, and shading

Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks

Strong understanding of engineering principles

Excellent problem-solving skills
