Job Description

About Cimpress Technology

Cimpress Technology develops cutting-edge, best-in-world software that our mass customization businesses use to create personalized products for millions of global customers. Our Mass Customization Platform (MCP) consists of modular, multi-tenant services. Our businesses include a dozen brands such as Vistaprint, National Pen and Box Up. These businesses can choose the solutions that work for them, or assemble any custom combination they need. This makes it easier and faster to do things like introduce new products, reach customers and track orders. This kind of innovation keeps customers coming back. Just last year, Cimpress generated $3.2B in revenue through customized print products, signage, apparel, packaging and more.

Our Team

The Data Domain's mission is to transform Cimpress businesses into data driven organizations.

We provide infrastructure for collecting data and extracting insights, reusable data products that solve common challenges, and expertise to help Cimpress organizations transform their technology and culture.

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Platform Analytics team to build thoughtfully architected, performant, scalable data products using the Cimpress Data Platform for advanced cross-domain intelligence on the product portfolio of the Mass Customisation Platform.

About the Role

As a Senior Data Engineer in the Platform Analytics team, you will own the technical direction and execution for critical data products that power advanced cross-domain intelligence. You will serve as the bridge between the raw complexities of the Cimpress Data Platform and the strategic needs of the business, delivering performant, scalable, and thoughtfully architected solutions for our Mass Customization portfolio.

You will take ownership of complex data lifecycles—from raw ingestion to production-ready datasets—and drive them from vague requirements to robust, high-performance systems. You will act as a trusted partner to data scientists and business stakeholders, making informed architectural trade-offs between schema flexibility, processing speed, and cloud infrastructure costs within an evolving, non-standardized environment.

In this role, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, establishing the best practices and foundational structures that stabilize our newly formed data ecosystems. You will ensure that our ETL/ELT pipelines and warehouse architectures evolve to support next-generation intelligence, including AI-driven insights and deeper cross-domain integrations across Cimpress businesses.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, test, and deploy secure, cost-efficient, high-quality data engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and analytics partners to clarify requirements and maximize customer value.
  • Resolve production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement best practices for logging, alerting, and reliability.
  • Break down projects into iterative, value-driven releases and advocate for MVP approaches.
  • Lead technical discussions and provide clear, principled design recommendations.
  • Contribute to planning and estimation, identifying risks and requirement gaps early.
  • Apply DevSecOps practices to deliver secure, observable, and efficient data pipelines and products.
  • Review code and provide constructive feedback to elevate engineering standards.
  • Introduce new tools and technologies to improve scalability, reliability, and productivity.
  • Define data metrics and instrumentation to measure impact and support experimentation.
  • Consider the wider customer journey when designing solutions to ensure long-term alignment.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help maintain an inclusive, collaborative team culture.

What Will Make You A Great Candidate

  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields, preferably in eCommerce, marketing analytics, or large-scale data environments.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Python and cloud-based data tools (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP also valued).
  • Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, DBT, S3).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and scalable distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps concepts, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Ability to debug and resolve production issues independently, including root-cause analysis and long-term fixes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field; master's degree preferred.

Some Nice To Haves

  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Matillion).
  • Knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Spark Streaming).
  • Familiarity with Looker, Snowflake, DBT, or other modern analytics ecosystem tools.
  • Experience with APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Understanding of data observability platforms and practices.

What's In It For You (besides the best in-class rewards)

  • An OPPORTUNITY to be a part of the global market leader in the mass customization industry.
  • A chance to GROW professionally building technology solutions for a largely unorganized market.
  • A system that EMPOWERS each member with a high degree of trust, freedom and autonomy.
  • A GLOBAL team that has some of the best minds in product, data and engineering.
  • A REMOTE-FIRST operating model and impeccable culture.
