About The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled SQL Data Analyst to join our remote team on a freelance basis. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in writing complex SQL queries, data extraction, transformation, and performing detailed data analysis. This role requires a professional who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple data-driven tasks, and delivering actionable insights that influence business decisions. The position offers flexible working hours within a night-shift overlap window, aligning with IST hours, making it suitable for professionals seeking a remote, flexible schedule. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our clients data needs by ensuring data accuracy, optimizing database performance, and providing meaningful analysis to inform strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 6 years of experience in data analytics or roles focused heavily on SQL. Strong proficiency in SQL, including advanced techniques such as joins, subqueries, common table expressions (CTEs), window functions, and query optimization, is essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of relational database systems and the ability to interpret business logic effectively. Experience with data validation, cleaning, and quality assurance practices is mandatory. Additionally, proficiency in Microsoft Excel—especially pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data analysis tools—is required. The ability to work autonomously with large datasets and deliver insights independently is crucial, along with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- Perform data cleaning, transformation, and aggregation tasks using SQL to prepare datasets for analysis.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that support business objectives.
- Conduct data validation and quality checks to ensure the integrity and consistency of data sources.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and deliver tailored analytical solutions.
- Support reporting and dashboard creation by preparing datasets suitable for BI tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Identify and troubleshoot data discrepancies or issues, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
- Optimize database queries and ensure efficient performance of SQL operations.
- Document SQL logic, data flows, and analytical processes for transparency and future reference.
