The Civil Foreman (Open Works) is responsible for supervising and directing all open excavation and surface civil activities at the Pumped Storage Project. The role involves day-to-day field supervision, manpower allocation, checking work quality, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating with engineers and survey teams to execute works as per approved drawings and method statements.
1. Supervise open cut excavation, benching, trimming, and muck removal activities.
2. Ensure correct execution of works for intake, outlet, powerhouse area, penstock, access roads, cofferdams, and foundation excavations.
3. Follow instructions from site engineers and maintain required excavation lines, slopes, and levels.
4. Allocate and manage daily workforce including excavator operators, drillers, helpers, and labour teams.
5. Enforce HSE guidelines for excavation, blasting, slope working, heavy equipment movement, and night operations.
6. Coordinate with survey teams to maintain correct alignment, centreline, grades, and excavation levels.
7. Ensure excavation is done as per required depth, slope, and section.
8. Maintain daily site records including labour deployment, equipment usage, material consumption, and progress achieved.
Experience in Pumped Storage Projects, hydropower dams, or hilly terrain projects.
Basic understanding of survey instruments (Auto level, Total Station).
Ability to coordinate subcontractors and multiple work fronts.
Knowledge of basic quality and safety standards.
