Sr Associate Software Engineer

What You Will Do

• Drive design, implementation, and optimization of intelligent, scalable search systems using Elasticsearch, Solr, OpenSearch, or vector search frameworks.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to build data models and deliver actionable insights.
• Develop custom ranking algorithms, relevancy tuning, semantic search, and advanced search features (query understanding, question answering, summarization, entity recognition).
• Build and maintain robust, cloud-native APIs and backend services for high-availability search infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability for production-grade systems.
• Enable indexing of both structured (clinical metadata) and unstructured content (PDFs, research papers).
• Design and develop data management tools to curate datasets, automate processes, and improve efficiencies.
• Use programming languages like Python, Java, React, TypeScript.
• Work with data storage/processing tech such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, SQL/NoSQL.
• Strong experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform).
• Develop Spark jobs for data transformation and aggregation.
• Work in multi-tiered, distributed systems with relational databases and data warehousing concepts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for timely, high-quality software delivery.
• Maintain thorough documentation and perform testing to ensure software quality.

Basic Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering preferred.
• 6-8 years software development experience.
• Proficient in Python, Java, React, TypeScript, Postgres, Databricks.
• Hands-on with search tech: Elasticsearch, Solr, OpenSearch, or Lucene.
• Full stack development experience.
• Experience with data streaming frameworks like Apache Kafka, Flink.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Python, Java, React, Fast Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS/HTML.
• API integration, serverless, microservices architecture knowledge.
• Experience with Databricks, PySpark, Spark SQL, ETL, Kafka.
• Familiar with data governance, security, and quality best practices.
• Unit testing, debugging, DevOps CI/CD pipeline experience.
• Agile software development methodologies.
• Vector database experience for large language models.
• Willingness to work on AI applications and NLP techniques.
• Knowledge of LangChain, LlamaIndex, prompt engineering, and model fine tuning is a plus.
