Sr Advisor, Product Management – Data Domain

What you'll achieve

The Sr Advisor, Product Management – Data Domain is responsible for driving the strategy, roadmap, and adoption of Data Domain–based data services focused on backup and recovery, SLA‑driven protection, high availability, disaster recovery, Protocols and authentication workflows and long‑term archival,. This role partners closely with engineering, architecture, and go‑to‑market teams to deliver resilient, scalable data services that meet strict RPO/RTO and compliance requirements across a wide range of workloads.

You will:

  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Data Domain Data Services (backup, replication, DR, and archival services).
  • Translate customer and market needs into clear requirements, user stories, and use cases for:
  • Backup & recovery services across heterogeneous workloads.
  • SLA‑driven protection policies (RPO/RTO, recovery time guarantees, backup windows).
  • High availability and disaster recovery services, including replication topologies and failover/failback workflows.
  • Long‑term retention / archival, including archival to object storage and direct‑to‑object use cases (on‑prem and cloud).
  • Good Understanding of Protocols (NFS,CIFS,S3,VTL)
  • Work closely with Engineering and Architecture to prioritize features, align on design trade‑offs, and deliver high‑quality releases on schedule.
  • Define and track service‑level metrics and KPIs (RPO/RTO adherence, availability, success rates, recovery performance, cost per TB, etc.) and use them to guide roadmap decisions.
  • Collaborate with Security and Cyber Recovery teams to incorporate immutability, ransomware resilience, and cyber recovery capabilities into Data Domain Data Services.
  • Partner with Sales, Pre‑Sales, Marketing, and Services to:
  • Develop positioning, packaging, and pricing for data services.
  • Build and maintain sales enablement materials (value propositions, competitive differentiation, TCO/ROI narratives).
  • Support key customer opportunities, roadmap sessions, and escalations.
  • Engage directly with customers and partners to validate use cases, gather feedback, and refine priorities, especially for mission‑critical and regulated workloads.
  • Ensure alignment with broader Dell data protection and multicloud strategy (e.g., integration with backup software, cloud services, management layers).

Essential Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in product management or closely related roles in data protection, storage, infrastructure, or cloud services.
  • Deep understanding of backup & recovery concepts and technologies, including:
  • Policy‑based protection, retention, and scheduling.
  • Operational metrics: backup success/failure, recovery workflows, performance.
  • Strong expertise in SLA‑driven protection and high availability:
  • Designing and managing services around RPO, RTO, and availability SLAs.
  • Experience with replication, failover/failback, and distributed deployments.
  • Hands‑on familiarity with long‑term retention / archival patterns:
  • On‑premises and cloud‑based archival,
  • Archival to object and direct‑to‑object architectures (e.g., S3‑compatible, cloud object stores),
  • Cost and durability trade‑offs for multi‑year retention.
  • Experience with enterprise workloads (e.g., databases, file/ NAS, VMs, cloud workloads) and their protection/DR requirements.
  • Understanding of security and cyber recovery concepts as they relate to data protection (immutability, air‑gapped copies, ransomware detection/response) – experience in this area is a strong advantage.

Desirable Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional collaboration with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Support, and Services.
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, and communication skills; able to articulate complex technical value to both technical and business stakeholders.
