We are seeking an Sr Advanced Systems Engineer – VE/CE COE to lead Value Engineering (VE) and Component Engineering (CE) initiatives across the pre-award and post-award project lifecycle, driving value engineering, component engineering, and cost-out initiatives.

This role has end-to-end ownership of VE/CE strategy execution, project prioritization, and stakeholder alignment, while ensuring delivery of measurable productivity, margin improvement, and design-to-cost outcomes across product portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage VE/CE engineering activities, including strategy, execution, and governance
  • Own VE/CE delivery for assigned product lines, including cost-out pipeline creation, prioritization, and execution for Process Technology projects
  • Deliver technically sound VE/CE solutions aligned with project specifications and RFQ requirements
  • Drive System-level Value Engineering initiatives, including solution redesign, BOQ optimization, schedule optimization, and IOS reuse
  • Exposure of Component Engineering initiatives, including alternate sourcing, dual sourcing, and part-number optimization ensuring form/fit/function compliance
  • Apply structured VE methodologies such as function analysis, should-costing, teardown analysis, and design-to-cost
  • Collaborate with PT UOP Project Engineering, Program/Project Management, Sourcing, and Procurement teams to identify and realize VE/CE opportunities
  • Establish and deploy standard VE/CE processes, metrics, and best practices across the VE/CE COE
  • Lead VE/CE workshops, ideation sessions, and Kaizen events to build a sustainable pipeline
  • Ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of VE/CE initiatives; proactively manage risks and communicate mitigation plans
  • Support fabrication readiness, supplier engagement, and component qualification activities resulting from VE/CE changes
  • Mentor and develop team capability through structured training and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to global strategy discussions focused on productivity, cost discipline, and margin expansion

Qualifications

You Must Have

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in Schedule A (Sch-A) and/or Equipment Engineering in PT UOP or similar projects
  • Experience in Oil & Gas / Refining / Petrochemical projects
  • Strong understanding of Sch-A and equipment engineering deliverables
  • Knowledge of equipment design, fabrication, and skid/module integration
  • Understanding of BOQ/MTO optimization and cost baseline development
  • Knowledge of industry codes & standards and statutory requirements
  • Exposure to multi-discipline coordination and constructability optimization
  • Ability to identify VE/CE levers (right-sizing, material optimization, standardization, IOS reuse)
  • Understanding of EPC cost structures (material, fabrication, installation, logistics)
  • Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and cross-regional communication skills
  • Ability to influence engineering, sourcing, operations, and leadership teams globally
  • Strong ownership mindset with a bias for action and results
