- Ability to work in any of the VE CE life cycle stages, including Ideation, Evaluation, Execution, and Implementation of ideas/projects.
- Responsible and accountable for all Value Component engineering projects and their implementation through collaborative effort with Engineering teams.
- Review the current Electronic board design considering the current technologies in terms of components, materials, and processes; propose ideations to reduce BoM cost either by redesign optimization.
- Ability to redesign electronic circuits to reduce product cost.
- Drive and participate in cost reduction idea generation for existing products; perform or support feasibility review of new ideas assigned.
- Essential deep knowledge of:
- Analog (opamps, BJT, MOSFET, etc.)
- Digital design (Microcontrollers, ADC, DAC, memory devices, etc.)
- Knowledge of electronic circuits, power supplies, connectors, and subsystems.
- Experience with conditional qualification testing.
- Study and understand PCB Schematics and Layout Design documents with respect to new component proposals.
- Experience in hardware component selection process, application specifications, and ability to identify CTQs.
- Mitigate all technical roadblocks and drive implementation of proposed ideations.
- Ability to predict and quantify design risk in terms of existing and new components/proposals.
- Total cost model preparation and approval:
- Collect project data such as cost of engineering services, capital investment, other services, project length, etc.
- Define the Return on Investment.
- Test plan preparation, component and product level qualification:
- Prepare specific test plans.
- Support and perform the required testing in the laboratory for the projects to ensure ideas/alternative components meet requirements and final product performance specifications.
- Experience in Value Component engineering, Design to Cost, and Should Costing methodologies.
- Good understanding of Component Change Management Process and PLM tools.
- Experience in SAP, PDM, Team Center/Windchill, and Agile tools will be an added advantage.
- Write a project final report/project team presentation to the team or management.
- Exposure to the full design life cycle in new product development.
- Prefer knowledge/skills in project management.
- Experience working in an international team with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work efficiently, and inform stakeholders on progress.
- Experience in one or more of the following products:
- Valves and Actuators
- Controllers
- Thermostats
- EMI/EMC Simulation experience.
Experience and Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is a must; Master's Degree in Engineering is an added advantage.
- 8-10 years of professional experience in Hardware Design, with strong fundamental knowledge in electrical, analog, digital, and power electronics engineering, as well as Value Component Engineering methodologies.
- Hands-on experience in redesigning small to medium hardware (Analog, Digital, Power Supplies, etc.) centric projects.
- Essential deep knowledge of electronic components, their parameters and characteristics, and experience with conditional qualification testing.
- Proven expertise in Critical Design Review on hardware component system design.
- Experience in the full design Product Development Lifecycle.
- Experience with simulation tools, UL/CSA/CE standards, statistical methods and tools, and MS Office.
- Very good written and spoken English, excellent communication and negotiation skills, experience working in an international team, and the ability to multitask.
