Responsibilities
Role includes but not limited to:
- Advanced use of proprietary and open-source GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI) for spatial analysis and terrain database development.
- Processing and interpreting satellite imagery, aerial photography, LiDAR, and UAV data for terrain modeling, land-use classification, and environmental monitoring.
- Designing, verifying, and validating terrain databases using multiple GIS/RS/IT tools and proprietary datasets.
- Manage the database structure and contents with the scope and size limitation of Various Terrain database products.
- Proficiency in DEM/DTM generation, hydrological modeling, viewshed analysis, and 3D terrain visualization.
- Analyze and interpret complex geospatial data and remote sensing imagery to derive actionable insights.
- Developing automated workflows with Python or R for geospatial data processing and validation.
- Implementing standards and validation protocols to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of geospatial datasets.
- Coordinating with engineering, IT, and domain experts to integrate GIS/RS outputs into advanced applications.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- 13+ years of experience in GIS and Remote Sensing.
- Advanced knowledge of GIS and Remote Sensing applied to avionics safety systems, specifically EGPWS database development.
- Expertise in terrain and obstacle database creation, verification, and validation for ground proximity warning systems.
- Expertise in terrain database creation, verification, and validation for flight simulation and planning.
- Skilled in integrating geospatial datasets with avionics applications to support terrain awareness and warning functions.
- Strong background in processing satellite imagery, LiDAR, and UAV data for accurate terrain and obstacle representation.
- Familiarity with aviation safety standards and regulatory requirements governing EGPWS database accuracy and reliability.
Additional/Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of AIRNC 424, Proficiency with DO200B and other regulatory documents.
- Proven analytical problem-solving skills and ability to translate solutions into Practical actions.
- Ability to work well in global team environments.
- Six sigma green belt certification.
- Knowledge of Aeronautical information publications and cartographical maps.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
