SQL To PGS Consultant

Job Description:We are seeking an experienced SQL to PostgreSQL (PGS) Consultant to support the migration of existing SQL Server workloads to PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database development, performance tuning, and hands-on experience in large-scale database migration projects.

• Key Responsibilities:Analyze and assess existing SQL Server database schemas, stored procedures, functions, and jobs.
• Design and implement equivalent PostgreSQL database structures and logic.
• Migrate data, views, triggers, and other database objects from SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
• Optimize PostgreSQL queries, indexing, and performance tuning post-migration.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes as required during the migration.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of data and functionality after migration.
• Collaborate with application teams to ensure seamless database integration and minimal downtime.
• Document migration procedures, technical approaches, and troubleshooting steps.
• Required Skills:Strong hands-on experience withSQL Server(T-SQL) andPostgreSQL (PL/pgSQL).
• Proven experience inSQL to PostgreSQL migration projects.
• Deep understanding ofdatabase performance tuning and optimization techniques.
• Experience working withdata migration toolsandETL processes.
• Familiarity withschema comparison,data validation, andreplication techniques.
• Knowledge ofPostgreSQL-specific featuressuch as JSONB, partitioning, and indexing.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Preferred Qualifications:Experience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL databases (e.g.,Amazon RDS,Google Cloud SQL,Azure Database for PostgreSQL).
• Understanding of DevOps practices related to database deployment and migration.
• Exposure to data modeling tools and migration utilities (e.g., AWS DMS, ora2pg, pgloader).
• Knowledge of Python or scripting languages for automation.
