SQL Server & PostgreSQL Database Administrator

Role/Position – SQL Server & PostgreSQL Database Administrator.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SQL Server & PostgreSQL DBA with 4+ years of hands-on experience managing production databases hosted across On-Premises and AWS environments. The candidate will be responsible for database availability, performance, security, backup/recovery, compliance, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot SQL Server and PostgreSQL production environments.
• Manage databases hosted on On-Premises and AWS infrastructure.
• Perform database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning.
• Manage SQL Server Always On, PostgreSQL Replication, HA/DR, and failover activities.
• Perform database backup, restore, recovery, and DR testing.
• Perform performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting.
• Manage database growth, storage, and capacity planning.
• Implement database security including users, roles, permissions, encryption, TDE, and least-privilege access.
• Support security audits, compliance requirements, access reviews, and audit findings remediation.
• Monitor database health, performance, replication, backups, storage, and availability.
• Automate routine DBA activities using T-SQL, PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Handle production incidents, perform RCA, and implement preventive measures.
• Maintain DBA documentation, SOPs, security controls, and operational procedures.

Required Skills

• 4+ years of hands-on DBA experience.
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Experience managing databases on On-Premises and AWS-hosted infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of backup/recovery, performance tuning, HA/DR, replication, and database security.
• Good experience with PostgreSQL TimescaleDB.
• Experience with SQL Server Always on and PostgreSQL replication.
• Experience with database audit, compliance, access management, and security controls.
• Good Linux and Windows administration knowledge.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Good to Have

• AWS infrastructure/database hosting experience.
• PostgreSQL TimescaleDB administration and performance tuning.
• AWS DMS / database migration experience.
• CloudWatch or other monitoring tools.
• Python/Bash/PowerShell automation.
• MongoDB administration.
