About the Role,
SQL Database Administrator (Azure),
Responsibilities,
Manage and maintain SQL Server databases in both virtual servers and Azure cloud environments.,
Monitor database performance, implement tuning strategies, and optimize queries for efficiency.,
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery planning through database backups, replication, and failover strategies.,
Implement security best practices, including access control, encryption, and compliance with industry standards.,
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.,
Automate routine database maintenance tasks using PowerShell or other scripting tools.,
Work closely with developers to optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures.,
Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Azure SQL Database services.,
Required Skills,
Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) administration.,
Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, and related cloud-based services.,
Proficiency in database backup, recovery, and high-availability configurations (Always On, Failover Clustering, Replication, etc.).,
Experience in performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.,
Experience with latest Data tools/technologies in Azure like ADF, Azure Synapse, MS Fabric.,
Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation.,
Knowledge of security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.,
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.,
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.,
Desirable Skills,
Experience with NoSQL databases or hybrid cloud environments.,
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (or equivalent certification).,
Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline integration with databases.,
