BOM COSTING SPECIALIST
DESCRIPTION
The BOM (Bill of Materials) Cost Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the cost structure of the complete BOM for all running & new products, ensuring cost competitiveness, transparency, and alignment with sourcing strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own and manage the total BOM cost for assigned products from concept through launch.
- Derive cost estimates based on zero based costing.
- Develop cost breakdowns and estimates for components and systems across all commodity groups.
- Analyse cost drivers and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
- Track BOM evolution and report variances vs. targets and previous builds.
- Maintain accurate cost databases and benchmarking data.
- Lead cost review meetings with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Evaluate and validate cost impact of design changes and engineering change requests (ECRs).
- Ensure timely update of BOM cost for changes and maintain version control.
- Align with Business development on cost targets and budget tracking.
- Perform benchmarking studies and cost competitiveness analysis vs. market trends.
- Monitor commodity price trends and assess supplier impacts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Mechanical engineering
- 10+ years of experience in Sourcing/ Purchasing in a Tier-1 automotive environment.
- Strong knowledge of automotive components, manufacturing processes and cost structures.
- Experience with BOM tools, Power BI/ cost modelling software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Teamcenter).
- Understanding of global sourcing and supplier negotiations.
