- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, learning difficulties, or other special needs
- Collaborate with parents, other educators, and support staff to design and implement effective educational programs that meet the individual needs of each student
- Adapt instructional materials and methods to the learning styles and abilities of each student
- Use specialized instructional techniques, such as multisensory instruction, to help students overcome their challenges and achieve their academic and personal goals
- Teach academic subjects, social skills, and life skills to students, as appropriate
- Assess student progress and modify instruction as needed to ensure that each student is making progress toward his or her goals
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress and participation, as required by law
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
