Role Description

The Special Educator supports children with diverse learning profiles by conducting educational assessments, designing individualized learning plans, and delivering structured educational interventions. The role focuses on enabling children to participate in learning environments by adapting teaching methods, building foundational skills, and supporting academic engagement.

The Special Educator works closely with families and the transdisciplinary team to ensure that educational strategies are aligned with each child's learning profile and developmental goals.

Core Areas of Responsibilities

  • Conduct educational assessments to understand each child's learning profile and identify strengths, challenges, and learning needs.
  • Design and implement individualized education plans aligned with the child's learning profile and intervention goals developed with the team.
  • Deliver structured educational sessions that support the development of learning skills, academic readiness, and classroom participation.
  • Work with parents to help them understand their child's learning needs and share practical strategies they can use at home.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, intervention plans, session notes, and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with the transdisciplinary team to plan and review intervention goals and ensure coordinated support for the child.
  • Contribute to the development of teaching materials, educational programs, and intervention resources used at the centre.
  • Support training initiatives, workshops, and awareness efforts related to learning support and inclusive education.
  • Coordinate with schools when needed to support classroom learning and accommodations.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Special Education or equivalent qualification recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
  • Valid RCI registration.
