Selected Intern's Day-to-day Responsibilities Include
- Simulation & Modeling
- Run orbital propagations (two-body, J2, and drag models).
- Simulate attitude dynamics (quaternions and reaction wheel models).
- Analyze maneuver performance and delta-v budgets.
- Compare simulated vs. expected state vectors.
- Algorithm Development
- Implement control laws (PID, LQR, and Kalman filters).
- Tune controller gains.
- Prototype guidance algorithms in Python / MATLAB.
- Translate validated algorithms into C / C++ for flight use.
- Data Analysis
- Analyze telemetry from past passes.
- Identify pointing errors or orbit drift trends.
- Evaluate maneuver execution accuracy.
- Build plots and performance reports.
- Software Tasks
- Write modular, testable code.
- Create unit tests.
- Fix integration bugs between GNC and flight software.
- Participate in code reviews.
- Verification & Validation
- Run Monte Carlo simulations.
- Perform hardware-in-the-loop tests.
- Validate fault detection logic.
- Document performance margins.
