Key Responsibilities
Commodity Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Track global and domestic non‑ferrous markets including LME/MCX indices, scrap economics, demand–supply trends, and geopolitical developments.
- Analyze commodity value chains to identify cost drivers, arbitrage opportunities, and sourcing levers.
- Develop commodity outlooks and price forecasts to support budgeting, sourcing decisions, and contract strategy.
Strategic Sourcing, Cost Reduction & Commercial Negotiation
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for non‑ferrous metals and components to optimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Drive year‑on‑year (YoY) cost‑reduction projects by deploying multiple sourcing levers such as supplier consolidation, alternate sourcing, index‑linked pricing, VA/VE initiatives, payment‑term optimization, and volume aggregation.
- Lead RFQs/RFPs and supplier negotiations covering index‑linked pricing, escalators/de‑escalators, volume discounts, payment terms, and service levels.
- Drive demand aggregation across plants/business units to maximize commercial leverage.
- Establish and manage long‑term supply agreements with strong commercial governance.
Commodity Risk & Supply Assurance
- Assess exposure to raw‑material price volatility and supply‑side risks.
- Implement mitigation levers such as price indexation mechanisms, alternate sourcing strategies, and supply‑continuity planning.
- Support internal governance for commodity exposure tracking and reporting.
Supplier Development & Relationship Management
- Identify, qualify, onboard, and develop suppliers aligned with technical, commercial, quality, and sustainability requirements.
- Conduct supplier capability assessments, audits, and PPAPs where applicable.
- Drive Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) through performance reviews (quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness) and corrective action plans.
- Build long‑term, collaborative partnerships focused on resilience and continuous improvement.
Technical & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Interpret material specifications, international standards (IS/IEC/ASTM), and application requirements.
- Partner with R&D, NPD, Quality, and Manufacturing on material selection, alternate development, VA/VE initiatives, and part industrialization.
- Support supplier trials and new‑part validation from a techno‑commercial perspective.
Compliance & Sustainability
- Ensure supplier compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements (GST, MSME documentation, contractual obligations).
- Integrate ESG, recycling, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principles into sourcing decisions.
- Support import/export sourcing including INCOTERMS and customs compliance.
Systems, Analytics & Reporting
- Manage sourcing and supplier data in ERP systems (SAP S4 HANA / SAP MM).
- Develop dashboards for spend, savings, volatility impact, and supplier performance using Excel / Power BI.
- Track sourcing KPIs, YoY cost‑reduction targets, and savings realization against approved business cases.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical / Production / Industrial/ Metallurgy)
- MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, or Procurement (preferred)
- 8–10 years of experience in strategic sourcing or commodity management of non‑ferrous metals
- Experience in the Wire & Cable, FMEG industries are strongly preferred
