Sourcing Engineer - Electronics

We are hiring an Avionics & Electronics Sourcing Engineer to own component procurement for our avionics and electronics systems. This role is responsible for sourcing components & subcomponents against engineering specifications, securing the best commercial terms, and ensuring the fastest possible delivery, across a component set that includes EO/IR payloads, GNSS receivers, CRPA antennas, flight controllers, ground control stations (GCS), actuators, radar, and RF antennas.

Reports to: Supply Chain Manager

Sourcing & Procurement

• Source avionics and electronic components & subcomponents against specifications provided by engineering, including EO/IR sensors, GNSS receivers, CRPA antennas, flight controllers, GCS hardware, actuators, radar, and antennas.
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify vendors across domestic and international markets for each component category.
• Issue RFQs, compare quotations, and select vendors based on price, lead time, quality, and reliability.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery timelines to secure the best available commercial terms on every purchase.
• Arrange the fastest viable delivery route for each order, coordinating with logistics and import/export functions as needed.

Cost & Quality Management

• Continuously identify opportunities for cost reduction across the existing component base without compromising specification compliance or quality.
• Evaluate alternate part numbers and alternate vendors to reduce cost, lead time, or single-source risk.
• Track component lifecycle and obsolescence risk; proactively flag parts approaching end-of-life and identify replacements.

Vendor & Documentation Management

• Build and maintain a qualified vendor base across avionics and electronics component categories, domestic and international.
• Monitor and evaluate ongoing vendor performance on cost, quality, and delivery reliability.
• Maintain accurate procurement records: RFQs, quotation comparisons, purchase orders, and vendor correspondence.
• Manage import/export documentation and compliance requirements (customs, SCOMET where applicable) for internationally sourced components.
• Coordinate with engineering to clarify specifications and resolve ambiguity before committing to an order, and with accounts/finance for payment processing and invoice reconciliation.
  

• B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on sourcing experience.
• 3–8 years of experience in technical/component sourcing, with demonstrated experience working in a startup ecosystem.
• Working technical understanding of avionics and electronic components (GNSS, CRPA, flight controllers, EO/IR, radar, actuators, antennas) sufficient to source correctly against a specification.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable pricing and delivery terms.
• Experience sourcing both domestically and internationally, including familiarity with import processes and cross-border vendor management.
• Ability to work effectively under sustained time pressure and shifting priorities, with urgent procurement turnarounds as a routine part of the role.
  

• Prior experience sourcing components for defense or aerospace programs, with awareness of export-control considerations (SCOMET, ITAR-free sourcing).
• Existing vendor network within avionics or electronic component supply chains, domestic or international.
• Working knowledge of BOM management and component obsolescence tracking.
