Job Description

Role: Solutions Engineer – India

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: India (Bengaluru preferred)

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Work Experience: 3–6 years of experience in geospatial analytics, applied remote sensing, or technical pre-sales roles within the Earth Observation industry.

Role Description

Pixxel is seeking a Solutions Engineer to support Pixxel's commercial presence across India, covering both government and commercial customers. This role sits within the Solutions Engineering team and serves as the primary technical pre-sales resource for the Indian market.

This role will support market demand driven heavily by bespoke analytics, custom models and data pipelines built from Firefly hyperspectral imagery and ancillary datasets to deliver processed, downstream products. This role requires fluency in both analytics pre-sales and standard imagery pre-sales. The India SE does not own analytics delivery, but must have the technical depth to scope feasibility, support proposal development, and translate outputs into customer value.

Primary verticals: agriculture, mining, water resources, defense and intelligence, and broader environmental monitoring.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Pre-Sales & Commercial Support:

Lead technical pre-sales engagements for imagery and analytics opportunities across Indian government and commercial accounts. Develop tailored proposals, RFP responses, and technical presentations that accurately reflect Pixxel's capabilities and the feasibility of the solution. Support the account strategy in collaboration with the India sales team.

  • Analytics Pre-Sales Coordination:

Serve as the primary pre-sales interface for analytics opportunities: translating customer requirements into scoped briefs for the Analytics team, developing exhibits and feasibility materials, and communicating analytical outputs to non-technical government and commercial audiences.

  • Imagery Pre-Sales:

Conduct imagery capture feasibility assessments, including AOI evaluation, HSI order configuration advice, and data sufficiency analysis. Deliver product demonstrations and build use cases that connect Pixxel's hyperspectral capabilities to specific customer problems.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination:

Act as the bridge between Indian customer requirements and internal teams (Analytics, Product, Platform, Customer Success). Contribute to reusable pre-sales assets, demo content, and proposal templates to improve consistency across engagements.

Desired Skills:

Technical & Domain Expertise

  • Strong background in geospatial analytics or remote sensing, with experience in satellite imagery (optical, multispectral, hyperspectral, or SAR).
  • Proficiency in geospatial tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, ENVI, Google Earth Engine, or GDAL.
  • Familiarity with analytics workflows, model validation, and spatial data quality. Sufficient to scope feasibility and communicate limitations credibly.
  • Domain knowledge in one or more priority verticals: agriculture, mining, water resources, defense and intelligence, or environmental monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Python for geospatial data manipulation (e.g. NumPy, Pandas, Rasterio, GDAL, Xarray).

Communication & Collaboration

  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including government stakeholders.
  • Strong written skills for proposal development, technical notes, and analytical narratives.
  • Comfort working across globally distributed teams and managing multiple parallel engagements.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively with international and cross-functional teams. Must be comfortable working with a globally distributed SE team across the Americas, Europe, India, and other APAC time zones.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior pre-sales, technical consulting, or customer-facing delivery role within EO, geospatial, or remote sensing.
  • Experience supporting government programs or enterprise procurement in India.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based EO platforms (e.g. Google Earth Engine, Sentinel Hub, Earthdata).
  • Exposure to hyperspectral imagery applications.
  • Proficiency in regional Indian languages in addition to English is an advantage.

Candidate Acumen:

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and a strong ownership mindset.
  • Willingness to travel within India to meet with customers, attend site visits, and support customer field engagements; occasional international travel for Pixxel events.

About Pixxel

Pixxel is a space data company and spacecraft manufacturer redefining Earth observation with hyperspectral imaging. The company's first three commercial hyperspectral satellites—Fireflies—deliver imagery at 5-meter resolution and 135+ spectral bands, providing 50x richer detail than traditional Earth observation systems and unlocking insights across agriculture, climate, energy, environment, and more.

Once fully deployed, Pixxel's constellation of 18-24 satellites will capture imagery across up to 250 bands in VNIR and SWIR ranges, with a 40 km swath and daily global revisit capability. Pixxel's most unique strength is its full-stack approach, integrating every layer of the value chain from satellite hardware and manufacturing to AI-powered analytics.

Pixxel's satellite constellation is complemented by Aurora, its in-house Earth Observation Studio that simplifies satellite imagery analysis and democratises remote sensing for all. Designed to make hyperspectral data more accessible, Aurora by Pixxel combines high-frequency imagery with AI-powered tools to generate actionable insights, even for users without technical backgrounds. The third pillar of Pixxel's ecosystem is its in-house satellite manufacturing capability. Beyond building its own spacecraft, Pixxel also provides satellite systems and subsystems to other organisations. This dual capacity sets it apart in a sector where most companies focus on either payload design or data operations, but not both.

Pixxel's team is young but deeply mission-aligned, with a culture rooted in curiosity, speed, and long-term thinking. As the company grows its constellation and expands Aurora, the focus remains on making space-based insights practical, scalable, and genuinely helpful so that the health of the planet becomes measurable and action becomes possible.

Pixxel was the only Indian startup selected for the Techstars Starburst Space Accelerator in Los Angeles and has been recognised in TIME's Best Inventions of 2023, Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies, and Via Satellite's Top Innovators list.
