ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is purpose-built for technically strong early-career professionals who are ready to take their technical skills into a customer-facing seat. Whether you have 0–3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field — or you are a recent graduate with strong internship experience — this is worth a serious look.
As a Solution Engineer at Hevo, you will work directly with Heads of Data, Data Engineering Managers, and CTOs at companies evaluating Hevo across the US Market. You will help them understand their data challenges, design the right data architecture, walk them through trade-offs, and earn the technical trust that turns an evaluation into a long-term partnership.
You will do this independently — often as the technical voice on the call. You need to walk into a Zoom with a VP of Data Engineering at a US fintech or a Head of Analytics at a European e-commerce company, understand their requirements, explain technical concepts clearly, and build confidence throughout the engagement.
Your technical foundation does not go away. It gets applied to a wider set of problems, a larger audience, and a genuinely global stage.
Hevo runs real-time data pipelines from 150+ sources into modern warehouses for over 1,000 companies worldwide — including DoorDash and Shopify. You will be the person customers rely on to make sure Hevo fits their stack, their scale, and their goals.
WHY THIS ROLE IS WORTH YOUR CONSIDERATION
A. You move from building solutions to shaping data strategy
In most engineering roles, you build what is specified. In this role, you sit with senior data leaders and help them understand what to build — across the full modern data stack. Your technical foundation in SQL, databases, data pipelines, cloud technologies, and engineering becomes the foundation for higher-leverage, higher-visibility work.
B. You get global exposure early in your career
You will be in regular technical conversations with Heads of Data and CTOs at fast-growing companies across North America, Europe, and beyond. You will run discovery, learn to defend architecture choices, and present in rooms where real decisions get made. This kind of exposure early in your career is uncommon anywhere — and almost unheard of from Bengaluru.
C. Your technical depth stays central
This is not a pivot away from engineering. Everything you know about Postgres, SQL, CDC, Kafka, dbt, Snowflake, and data pipelines gets used every day. The difference is that your technical knowledge helps shape the customer's architecture — instead of living inside a Jira ticket.
D. The career path is real
Strong performers in this role can grow into senior individual contributor roles, lead the SE function, or move into product, customer success leadership, solutions architecture, or other technical customer-facing positions. The optionality this role builds is significant.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Run technical discovery calls with Heads of Data, Data Engineering Managers, and CTOs to understand their stack, pain points, and constraints. These are global conversations — primarily with customers in North America and Europe — and you will learn to own them end to end.
Design and present reference architectures showing how Hevo integrates into the customer's existing data stack (e.g., Salesforce, Postgres, GA4, Snowflake, dbt).
Deliver live product demos tailored to each customer's environment. These are not scripted walkthroughs — you will read the room, adapt in real time, and handle unexpected technical questions with confidence.
Support the technical evaluation from first conversation through to closed deal — addressing technical questions and building trust with engineering teams.
Build proof-of-concept pipelines by configuring real connections from source systems (Salesforce, Outreach, Postgres, MySQL) into destinations like Snowflake or BigQuery.
Develop deep expertise across the data integration landscape — including native solutions from AWS, GCP, and Azure (Glue, Data Factory, Dataflow) — and articulate Hevo's technical advantages in a way that resonates with both technical and non-technical buyers.
Partner with Account Executives to drive technical wins, and work closely with Customer Success to ensure smooth, high-quality handoffs post-deal.
Feed customer insights and recurring patterns back to Product and Engineering to meaningfully influence the roadmap.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Must-Haves
0–3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software engineering, ETL/ELT, data warehousing, or a related technical field. Recent graduates with strong technical projects, internships, or relevant hands-on experience are also encouraged to apply.
Strong SQL fundamentals and working knowledge of databases and data engineering concepts.
Working knowledge of at least one cloud data warehouse — Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift — through professional, internship, academic, or project experience.
Exposure to at least one orchestration or transformation tool such as Airflow, dbt, or similar is preferred.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills — this is non-negotiable. You will be the face of Hevo's technical capability to a global customer base. Specifically:
Your spoken English is clear, confident, and accessible to an international audience.
You are comfortable presenting technical concepts to groups and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders over video calls.
You can structure a technical narrative — not just answer questions, but guide a conversation toward the right conclusion.
You have presented or demo'd something technical to an audience before — whether in academic projects, internships, internal reviews, client calls, meetups, hackathons, or conferences.
Genuine interest in working directly with customers and solving their problems — even if you have not done so formally before.
Nice to Have
Experience building data pipelines or ETL/ELT workflows through professional, internship, academic, or personal projects.
Experience with CDC tools or data integration platforms — cloud-native (AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Google Cloud Dataflow) or third-party pipeline tools.
Exposure to multiple source system types — CRMs, ad platforms, SaaS APIs, and OLTP databases.
Public technical writing, conference talks, hackathons, or open-source contributions.
Prior exposure to customer conversations — even informally, such as presenting to internal stakeholders, analytics teams, or collaborating with international teams across time zones.
