Are you passionate about transforming tax technology through innovation Amazon's Direct Tax Technology team is seeking a Solutions Architect II to revolutionize how tax professionals work. In this role, you'll leverage modern technologies including Python and generative AI to design and implement solutions that empower Amazon's Direct Tax Reporting and Compliance organization. You'll tackle complex technical challenges at unprecedented scale, building world-class systems that drive efficiency and enable tax professionals to meet Amazon's unique global challenges.

Key job responsibilities
Design and implement scalable tax technology solutions using Python, generative AI, and modern development practices to solve complex tax processing challenges
Define front-end architectures and user experiences, owning specific technical components while establishing best practices for model development and solution design
Collaborate with tax professionals, Product Managers, and fellow Solutions Architects to translate customer requirements into technical specifications that engineering teams can execute
Lead end-to-end solution architecture for tax technology projects, including planning, design, implementation, testing, and continuous process improvement as part of an autonomous team
Mentor and develop other Solutions Architects by sharing technical expertise, facilitating knowledge transfer, and contributing to team growth through code reviews and technical guidance
A day in the life
Your day blends creative problem-solving with hands-on technical work. You might start by architecting a generative AI solution to streamline tax compliance workflows, then collaborate with tax professionals to refine user experience requirements. After lunch, you'll dive into Python modeling to optimize data processing pipelines, followed by a design review where you mentor junior architects on best practices. The afternoon could include troubleshooting a technical challenge with your team, contributing to solution planning, and ending with a customer workshop where you demonstrate how new capabilities will transform their tax operations.

Our team tackles the unique and complex challenges that come with operating at Amazon's scale, building systems that enhance processing efficiency and empower our internal customers.

- 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
