Solutions Architect

The ideal candidate will be responsible for working cross-functionally to understand architecture needs by multiple business units. To be effective in this position, you must feel comfortable owning the entire architecture development process from inception to completion.

Job Summary

The Solution Architect – Xstore is responsible for designing and owning the overall architecture for Oracle Retail Xstore implementations across retail environments. The role involves defining scalable, secure, and integrated retail solutions that support store operations, omnichannel capabilities, and enterprise business processes. The architect works closely with business stakeholders, implementation teams, vendors, and enterprise architects to ensure seamless integration between Xstore, XOCS, ERP, OMS, CRM, payment systems, loyalty platforms, and other retail applications. This role also focuses on ensuring solution scalability, performance optimization, architecture governance, and alignment with retail business objectives. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Oracle Retail Xstore architecture, enterprise integrations, middleware technologies, and retail transformation programs.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end architecture for Oracle Retail Xstore, XOCS, and integrated retail systems.
• Design integration solutions between Xstore and external applications including ERP, OMS, CRM, Payment Gateways, Loyalty, and BNPL platforms.
• Develop high-level and low-level architecture designs, integration flows, and deployment models.
• Review technical designs and ensure compliance with architecture standards, security policies, and best practices.
• Lead architecture discussions, technical workshops, and design review sessions with stakeholders and implementation teams.
• Provide technical guidance and architectural support to development, integration, and support teams.
• Design and validate REST/SOAP APIs, middleware integrations, and event-driven communication frameworks.
• Ensure seamless omnichannel retail capabilities such as BOPIS, Ship-from-Store, Endless Aisle, and real-time inventory visibility.
• Support effort estimation, technical proposals, RFP/RFI responses, and pre-sales solution activities.
• Work closely with infrastructure and security teams to ensure scalability, availability, PCI compliance, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and integration challenges and provide mitigation strategies.
• Support large-scale retail rollout planning, deployment strategy, and production stabilization activities.
• Ensure smooth synchronization between store systems and centralized enterprise applications.
• Participate in architecture governance, solution reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and Competencies

Functional & Domain Skills

• Strong expertise in Oracle Retail Xstore architecture and implementation.
• Good understanding of Xstore POS, XOCS, Xadmin, and store server architecture.
• Strong knowledge of retail business processes including sales, returns, promotions, inventory, and customer engagement.
• Experience in omnichannel retail operations and fulfillment processes.

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, and enterprise integrations.
• Hands-on experience with middleware technologies such as MuleSoft, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), Dell Boomi, Kafka, or similar platforms.
• Experience integrating Xstore with ERP, OMS, CRM, Payments, Loyalty, and third-party retail applications.
• Strong understanding of Oracle Retail Suite components such as RMS, ReSA, RPM, SIM, and RIB.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Familiarity with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and deployment automation.

Architecture & Governance

• Strong capability in solution architecture design and enterprise integration architecture.
• Experience in defining scalable, secure, and high-availability retail solutions.
• Ability to review and validate technical designs and architecture standards.
• Knowledge of security standards, PCI-DSS compliance, and secure integration practices.
• Expertise in performance optimization, system scalability, and transaction processing.

Documentation & Communication

• Strong documentation skills including HLD, LLD, architecture diagrams, and API specifications.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to conduct technical workshops and architecture review sessions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with business, technical, vendor, and offshore teams.

Experience Requirements

• 10–15 years of IT experience with significant exposure to retail technology solutions.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle Retail Xstore implementations.
• Experience in large-scale enterprise retail transformation projects and store rollout initiatives.
• Proven experience in client-facing architecture and solution leadership roles.
