Solution Engineer

Job Purpose

The Solutions Engineer – Managed Detection and Response (MDR) acts as the technical and consultative bridge between customers, sales, and delivery teams. The role transforms deep SOC experience into client-facing advisory capability, helping customers understand MDR architecture, value realization, and risk reduction. This individual plays a pivotal role in designing, demonstrating, and positioning MDR services that align technology, processes, and outcomes with business priorities.

Key Accountabilities

Client Discovery & Requirement Analysis

• Conduct structured discovery workshops with customer technical and management teams.

• Identify visibility gaps, pain points, compliance requirements, and operational objectives.

• Document customer challenges using a standardized discovery framework (Technical, Process, Business).

• Validate scope and data sources for MDR deployment (SIEM/EDR/Cloud/Network).

Solution Architecture & Design

• Develop end-to-end MDR architecture diagrams covering data ingestion, analytics, enrichment, response, and reporting layers.

• Define workflow automations and escalation logic (governed automation principles).

• Map MDR capabilities to MITRE ATT&CK techniques and NIST IR framework.

• Align solution components with customer risk posture and maturity level.

Proposal and Documentation Development

• Contribute to RFP/RFI responses, technical proposals, and statements of work.

• Draft executive summaries, solution scopes, and service deliverables for MDR offerings.

• Build ROI and value-based justification models using operational and risk reduction metrics.

• Maintain a reusable content library for MDR presales documentation.

Demonstration and Presentation

• Deliver product-agnostic presentations and MDR service demonstrations to customers and partners.

• Simplify complex detection workflows into clear, visual narratives for non-technical audiences.

• Tailor content depth to the audience persona (CISO, CIO, IT Manager, Compliance Head).

• Conduct webinars and workshops showcasing MDR capabilities and case studies.

Proof of Concept (POC) Support

• Assist in defining POC success criteria, data onboarding, and validation methods.

• Collaborate with SOC and engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility.

• Document POC outcomes and prepare technical summaries for client presentation.

Field Enablement & Mentorship

• Participate in live presales engagements under mentor supervision.

• Observe at least three customer meetings and contribute to at least one proposal or POC.

• Capture learnings, challenges, and improvement actions for review.

Governance & Collaboration

• Ensure clean handoff documentation between presales and delivery teams.

• Validate that proposed services align with existing operational capacity and SLA commitments.

• Collaborate with product, threat intelligence, and SOC operations teams for continuous improvement.
