The Position

Senior Solution Architect - Pharma R&D

The Global Patient Safety and Pharmacovigilance domain is at the core of Roche's commitment to patient wellbeing. This critical ecosystem governs the enterprise platforms used to monitor the safety profile of our medicines and medical devices, managing everything from Individual Case Safety Report (ICSR) intake to complex Signal and Literature Management. Our team ensures that these systems-spanning over 18 on-premise and SaaS applications-operate with absolute integrity and compliance within a strict GxP and CSV-regulated environment.

As a Senior Solution Architect, you will focus on designing data-driven, business-aligned, and future-ready solutions within a complex reporting and analytics ecosystem. You will drive the technology strategy for our Pharmacovigilance domain, guiding platform simplification and establishing robust master data foundations. From integrating core safety platforms with global product complaint systems to architecting our Agentic AI roadmap, you will play a pivotal role in shifting our capabilities from reactive compliance to proactive risk mitigation.

The Opportunity

  • Architect Safety Solutions: Design end-to-end solutions for Global Patient Safety, supporting AE Case, Signal, and Regulatory Reporting across a globally distributed landscape.

  • Lead Platform Simplification: Drive strategic initiatives to harmonize over 18 on-premise and SaaS applications, reducing technical debt while enhancing system interoperability.

  • Innovate with Agentic AI: Design future-proof architectures that embed machine learning and agent-based workflows to transition from reactive monitoring to proactive risk mitigation.

  • Ensure Data Governance: Define canonical data models and ensure end-to-end data flow integrity, traceability, and governance across multiple reporting systems and data layers.

  • Establish Integration Patterns: Define scalable integration pathways between upstream source systems and downstream analytics platforms using technologies like MuleSoft and AWS.

  • Drive Inspection Readiness: Ensure all solutions are documented and evolved to be fully inspection-ready, meeting the rigorous demands of GxP and CSV-regulated environments.

  • Influence Technology Strategy: Develop and maintain the product technology roadmap, evaluating external trends and vendor feasibility to keep Roche at the forefront of R&D technology.

  • Bridge Business and Engineering: Act as a strategic consultant to translate complex reporting requirements into technical specifications that align with enterprise data strategy.

Who you are

  • Proven Solution Architect: You bring extensive experience designing business-driven, standards-based solutions within complex, multi-system reporting and analytics environments.

  • Regulated Industry Expert: You possess deep knowledge of Pharmacovigilance or similar highly regulated environments, with a strong emphasis on auditability and compliance.

  • Technical Master: You have expert-level knowledge in multiple technology areas, specifically Java, ServiceNow, Pega, MuleSoft, Spotfire, AWS, and Snowflake.

  • Data Visionary: You are proficient in creating Conceptual & Logical Data Models, Taxonomies, Ontologies, and AI/ML-enabled data pipelines.

  • Educated Professional: You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with significant experience in enterprise-scale architecture.

  • Strategic Problem Solver: You excel at leading others through complex analytical thought, exercising judgment to identify innovative solutions and manage Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs).

  • Effective Influencer: You possess exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to lead stakeholders toward standardized architecture and data governance practices.
