Key Responsibilities
1. Solution Architecture & Design
.
Design and optimize end-to-end AMI architecture including:
o
Cloud Architecture (OCI, AWS , GCP , Private cloud)
o
Application architecture (HES, MDMS, CMA, WFM, Analytics platforms etc.)
o
Integration with Billing, CIS, ERP, OMS, DMS
.
Define scalable, secure, and high-availability architectures suitable for large-scale deployments (millions of meters).
.
Create solution blueprints, architecture diagrams, and technical specifications.
.
Cloud migration strategy
2. Regulatory & Standards Compliance (India-Specific)
.
Ensure compliance with:
o
RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme) guidelines
o
IS / IEC / DLMS-COSEM standards
.
Align solutions with Ministry of Power (MoP) and DISCOM tender requirements.
.
Support cybersecurity and data privacy requirements (CERT-In, ISO 27001).
3. Responsibilities
.
Act as technical lead for AMI RFPs and tenders:
o
Interpret technical clauses
o
Respond to compliance, deviations, and technical questionnaires
.
Define BoQs, sizing, and cost-optimized architectures.
.
Participate in customer workshops, technical presentations, and demos.
4. Implementation & Delivery Governance
.
Guide SI partners and internal teams during deployment phases:
o
Application deployment and configuration as per RFP and SBD requirements
o
Network setup and optimization
.
Ensure adherence to architecture, performance KPIs, and SLAs.
.
Provide escalation support for critical technical issues.
5. Integration & Data Architecture
.
Define integration patterns using:
o
APIs, ESB, middleware
o
Batch and near-real-time data flows
.
Architect meter data lifecycle from acquisition to billing and analytics.
6. Security & Scalability
.
Design security architecture covering:
o
Encryption (meter → HES → MDMS)
o
Role-based access control etc.
.
Ensure systems can scale for state-wide or national deployments.
.
Plan for DR, HA, and performance optimization.
7. Stakeholder Management
.
Work closely with:
o
DISCOM IT & Operations teams
o
OEMs (meter, communication, application vendors)
o
Project managers and regulatory stakeholders
.
Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly terms.
Technical Skills
.
Strong knowledge of AMI / Smart Metering ecosystems
.
Hands-on experience with:
o
HES & MDMS platforms (All leading OEMs)
o
DLMS/COSEM protocols
.
Utility IT systems (Overview): Billing, CIS, GIS, OMS, DMS
.
Cloud & on-prem architecture (preferably hybrid)
.
Database management (Preferably on Oracle DB)
.
DevOps with automated CI CD pipeline
.
Understanding of Micro service architecture.
Domain Knowledge
.
Indian power distribution sector
.
DISCOM operations and challenges
.
RDSS, prepaid smart metering
.
Large-scale system rollouts in utilities
Soft Skills
.
Strong documentation and presentation skills
.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams

Education
.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Computer Science / IT)
