Job Summary:
As the Solution Architect (Cloud) under the Customer Success vertical at Rakuten Symphony, the focus is on defining a customer journey by delivering a world-class experience right from the initial discussions, demonstrations, through commercial trials, and production deployments. Solution Architect (Cloud) will provide overall architectural ownership and solution management. Taking pride in our customer experience, we help customers as quickly as possible by understanding their problem statement, acquiring the bigger picture, translating them into technical requirements, and solving their business problems by delivering outstanding solutions. As part of this, a wide range of activities from customer demos, proof of concepts with customers and partners, and production deployments through to supporting Incidents and managing the customer relationship post-launch are undertaken. This involves a logical approach to problem-solving and prioritization coupled with great customer management skills. The focus areas in a Telco-based Cloud deployment are diverse. This includes delivering a cost-effective carrier grade Telco Cloud Architecture to support 5G services, Network Function Virtualization, Digital customer journey supported by end-to-end automation & orchestration, Mobile Edge Computing, Hyperscale data, and Security.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver innovative Cloud solutions through customer engagement and technical guidance.
- Build deep technical relationships to resolve customer issues using Rakuten Symphony solutions.
- Deploy & Configure Rakuten Cloud in production networks and PoCs.
- Align technology infrastructure with business goals through strategy and solution design.
- Provide technical and business expertise in architecting and implementing 5G solutions.
- Design cloud and automation strategies considering scale, networking, and storage.
- Whiteboard architectures to communicate customer requirements to Engineering and Product teams.
- Execute PoCs and technical demos of Rakuten Symphony products.
- Support Sales and Pre-Sales teams as SME for RFPs and product demonstrations.
- Lead internal best practices and operational improvements initiatives.
- Develop end-to-end conceptual architectures using Rakuten Symphony and partner products.
- Oversee deployment and integration of solutions per customer project plans.
- Create repeatable and scalable solution offerings.
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent understanding of Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture
- Strong Linux System Admin Experience with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification from CNCF or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CNS)
- Good knowledge of cloud-related services like compute, storage, network, and automation
- Outstanding working knowledge of Kubernetes, Networking, and Containerization technologies, with demonstrable experience in a Production environment.
- Excellent understanding of performance optimization technologies such as SR-IOV, DPDK, NUMA, CPU Isolation, and Hugepages.
- Good understanding of K8s CNI such as Calico, OVS, macvlan, IPVLAN, SR-IOV etc.
- Knowledge of Security Requirements of Cloud Platform, Automation Frameworks, and Operating systems to adhere to customer use cases.
- Good Understanding of storage requirements and solutions.
- Proficient in architecting and delivering successful Proof of Concept solutions based on containerized technology that met customer needs and project timelines.
- Experienced in designing and implementing large-scale projects in 4G/5G Telco environment.
- Well-versed with service-oriented architecture, cloud-based web services architecture, design patterns, and frameworks.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or equivalent experience
Secondary/Relevant Skills:
- Experience in service mesh technologies such as Istio and Envoy.
- Demonstrable scripting skills and automation (bash, python etc.).
- Interest in identifying new cloud technologies, tools & processes drives innovation and business value.
- Knowledge of Open RAN architecture, vRAN design approaches, and working requirements of DU, CU, O Cloud Infra, SMO & Non-RT RIC
- Knowledge of 5G/4G packet core architecture (SA & Non-SA) & Network Functions - AMF, SMF, UPF. PCF, NWDAF, NSMF, etc.
- Self-motivated, learning quickly, and delivering results with minimal supervision
- Industry leading Networking Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE or equivalent.
