Position: Solution Architect (SA) – Application Modernization
Practice Area: Digital Engineering & Enterprise Transformation
Location: Chennai & Bangalore
Employment Type: Full-time
About Teceze
Teceze is a global technology partner focused on operational resilience, digital transformation, and scalable growth. We simplify architectural complexity and accelerate business velocity by uniting next-generation innovation under a highly accountable delivery model.
Our Application Modernization Practice helps enterprise clients break free from legacy technical debt. We specialize in transforming monolithic systems, outdated mainframes, and legacy software stacks into agile, cloud-native SaaS/PaaS platforms. By reimagining application architectures, we enable organizations to unlock continuous innovation, maximize operational velocity, and lower total cost of ownership.
Position Overview
We are seeking an expert Solution Architect for our Application Modernization Practice. In this role, you will be the technical visionary and strategist responsible for analyzing complex, legacy software landscapes and mapping out their evolution into modern, distributed, cloud-native systems.
You will operate as a trusted advisor to client CXOs and technology leaders, evaluating their as-is systems and defining the optimal migration and modernization strategies (Re-platforming, Refactoring, Re-architecting). You will lead technical discovery, design high- and low-level software architectures, and guide our engineering teams through the flawless execution of these transformation roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities
- Legacy Discovery & Assessment: Lead comprehensive technical assessments of clients legacy application portfolios. Evaluate codebase quality, architectural bottlenecks, database dependencies, and business logic to determine modernization feasibility and risk profiles.
- Architectural Strategy & Refactoring: Design future-state, cloud-native architectures. Lead the structural migration of heavy monolithic applications into distributed, microservices-led patterns, utilizing domain-driven design (DDD) methodologies.
- Cloud-Native & API-First Design: Blueprint highly resilient systems leveraging containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), serverless functions, event-driven patterns (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and robust API management/orchestration layers.
- Database Modernization: Guide the transformation of legacy, tightly coupled relational databases into modern data architectures, including polyglot persistence strategies (combining SQL, NoSQL, and caching layers effectively).
- Pre-Sales & Value Engineering: Partner with business development teams during early-stage client consultations. Lead technical discovery workshops, draft formal Statements of Work (SOWs), estimate engineering efforts, and articulate the ROI of modernization to client leadership.
- Technical Governance & Mentorship: Establish coding standards, migration patterns, and modern software design principles for development squads. Provide hands-on guidance to engineering leads to ensure structural integrity throughout the execution lifecycle.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience & Education
- 8 to 12+ years of professional experience in software engineering and enterprise software architecture, with at least 3 to 5 years focused explicitly on application modernization or refactoring initiatives.
- Proven track record of migrating legacy enterprise applications (e.g., .NET Framework, Java EE, or older web/mainframe systems) into public or hybrid cloud environments.
- Solid experience implementing DDD (Domain-Driven Design) and various migration strategies (e.g., Strangler Fig pattern).
Technical Domain Expertise
- Application Development: Mastery in modern programming frameworks, particularly modern .NET (.NET Core/8), Java (Spring Boot), or Node.js.
- Architectural Patterns: Deep command over microservices architectures, event-driven design, RESTful APIs, gRPC, and cloud-native integration strategies.
- Containers & Orchestration: Strong implementation experience with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, or GKE).
- Hyperscaler Tooling: Deep understanding of application services within AWS, Azure, or GCP (such as App Services, Lambda/Functions, API Gateways, and managed databases).
