As a Solution Architect, you will:
- Provide architecture development, consultancy, and assurance to ensure applications are well-designed and comply with Shell standards and reference architectures.
- Be accountable to the Project Manager for the end-to-end architecture of IT solutions, from development to deployment.
- Engage across the full architecture spectrum:
- Business Process
- Data
- Application
- Technical Infrastructure
- Information Security
- Document these aspects in a Solution Architecture High-Level Design (SAHLD).
- Collaborate with various stakeholders including:
- Data Architects
- Technology Architects
- Business Analysts
- Project Managers
- Information Risk Management (IRM)
- IT Services and Operations
- Ensure architecture documentation:
- Follows Shell templates
- Uses BiZZdesign/Archimate modeling tools
- Complies with standards (IRM, TOE, etc.)
- Leverages available reference models
- Identify and resolve architecture risks; if standards cannot be fully met, proactively obtain step-out approvals from relevant functions.
- Coach detailed designers and business analysts during solution development.
- Review and approve detailed designs and associated testing plans; ensure any changes are reflected in updated architecture documentation.
- Support Segment Architects and participate in reviews via the Architecture Review Board.
- Contribute to evergreening architecture models in BiZZdesign by lifting project outputs to conceptual and logical levels.
- Stay up-to-date with:
- IT technology developments
- Internal standards and service offerings
- Emerging tools and platforms
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 6 years of experience in a Solution Architecture role with similar responsibilities, preferably on enterprise-scale solutions.
- Experience in Enterprise Automation technologies, such as:
- Blue Prism
- Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate and Power Automate Desktop)
Relevant certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience in designing enterprise platforms for Robotic Process Automation (RPA), with understanding of:
- Infrastructure requirements (VMs, Application Servers, Databases)
- Security and compliance considerations
- Strong grasp of modern software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices and automation tools.
Experience with GitHub platform services is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with architecture modeling tools (preferably ArchiMate, BiZZdesign).
