Solar Project Engineer

Role Overview

The Solar Project Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of solar energy projects, ranging from small-scale installations to large utility-scale solar power plants. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise and project management capabilities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Project Planning & Design

• Conduct site assessments and analyze solar resource data for project feasibility 
• Design solar PV systems including layout, electrical configurations, and grid integration 
• Perform quality checks of engineering designs and technical drawings 
• Assist in preliminary design budgeting and cost estimation 

Execution & Project Management

• Manage day-to-day project activities and site operations 
• Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and deliverables 
• Lead site teams and provide engineering guidance during installation 
• Monitor site progress, conduct inspections, and ensure timely reporting 
• Oversee commissioning, testing, and performance validation 

Technical & Engineering

• Select appropriate equipment (solar panels, inverters, transformers, mounting structures) 
• Handle AC-side systems including 33kV / 11kV / 132kV transmission lines (preferred expertise) 
• Provide technical support during installation, operation, and maintenance phases 
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical/design issues during the project lifecycle 

Coordination & Compliance

• Liaise with clients, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders 
• Coordinate with local authorities for permits, approvals, and compliance 
• Ensure adherence to safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices 
• Support tendering processes, contract management, and procurement activities 

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain detailed project documentation and records 
• Prepare progress reports and status updates for management and clients 
• Manage project databases and compliance records 

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Renewable Energy 

• Proven experience in solar or renewable energy project execution 

• Strong knowledge of EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) processes 

• Proficiency in tools like AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar design software 

• Good understanding of electrical systems, grid integration, and inverter technologies 

• Experience with AC-side systems (33kV / 11kV / 132kV transmission lines) will be preferred 

• Familiarity with Indian renewable energy regulations and permitting processes
