Senior Consultant / Manager – RE Solar Project Developer Advisory

Location: India

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Solar Project Developer Advisory Consultant to lead techno-commercial feasibility, detailed engineering consultancy, and technical due diligence for solar PV projects (Rooftop, Ground-Mounted, and Group Captive/Utility-Scale). You will serve as a trusted technical advisor, evaluating greenfield opportunities and conducting asset health assessments for operational plants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site surveys (rooftop, ground, structural) and shadow analysis. Perform energy yield modelling (PVsyst/Helioscope) and prepare detailed techno-commercial feasibility reports (NPV, ROI, payback).
  • Develop and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) from array to point of coupling (LT/HT). Conduct short-circuit, cable sizing, earthing, and protection studies in compliance with regulatory norms.
  • Evaluate roof/ground load-bearing capacities, dynamic wind loads, and structural integrity. Define specifications for module mounting structures (MMS), corrosion protection, and civil BOQs.
  • Perform technical due diligence on operational plants to assess degradation, identify execution defects, and recommend yield-enhancement and retrofit strategies.
  • Draft EPC tender packages, technically evaluate vendor bids, manage pre-award negotiations, and review Issued-For-Construction (IFC) drawings.
  • Should have understanding of the land conversion requirement, title verification, and Right-of-Way (RoW) risks. Navigate statutory clearances (e.g. CEIG, connectivity approvals, and local RE policies).
  • Should Prepare ROI / payback / NPV / IRR calculations based on project cost, energy saving, tariff assumptions, banking / settlement charges if applicable, O&M cost, degradation and statutory charges
  • Prepare / review IFC drawings, layout drawings, SLDs, cable route drawings, cable schedules, earthing layouts, lightning protection layouts, civil / structural drawings, equipment layouts and installation details.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical, Renewable Energy, or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience: 5–10 years in solar PV engineering consultancy, EPC project development advisory, or detailed engineering (DEC).
  • Core Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in PVsyst, AutoCAD, and shadow analysis software.
  • Deep knowledge of HT/LT electrical design, protection schemes, transformer sizing, and SCADA systems.
  • Strong grasp of structural load calculations, wind dynamics, and civil foundation/anchoring techniques.
  • Proven track record in operational plant due diligence and performance benchmarking.
  • Standards & Regulations: Strong familiarity with national grid codes, CEA safety regulations, DISCOM norms, and IS/IEC standards.

Preferred / Good to Have

  • Foundational knowledge of land acquisition, title verification, and RoW clearances.
  • Exposure to corporate PPAs, Group Captive rules, and Virtual PPAs (vPPAs).
  • PMP or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) credential.
