Zeno is building a tech platform to electrify this two-wheeler market, currently responsible for more than 4% of the world's GHG emissions. Our mission is to accelerate the energy transition and democratize the benefits across Africa, India, and Latin America. With a focus on East Africa as a starting point, Zeno is building a new energy ecosystem with ground-up development of a fundamentally better electric motorcycle and associated battery swap network to drive a better experience for our customers.
The Role
Zeno is looking for a highly skilled SDET with strong programming expertise in Python and Shell scripting to design, build, and maintain scalable test automation including Manual testing. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on improving product quality through robust automation, deep system understanding, and tight integration with development workflows.
What You'll Do
- Analyze product requirements and create test cases for functional and regression testing
- Perform manual testing (functional, regression, integration, and UAT support)
- Strong hands-on experience in Python programming for test automation
- Hands-on experience with automation tools like Playwright , Appium, pytest
- Perform functional and regression testing of REST/HTTP APIs
- Build automated test suites for APIs, backend services, mobile applications, and embedded systems.
- Perform manual testing on hardware devices and systems
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and faster releases.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to ensure quality is embedded early in the development lifecycle.
- Drive test coverage across unit, integration, regression, and system levels.
- Perform root cause analysis for defects and contribute to long-term quality improvements.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt modern testing tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
What You Bring
- 2-6 years of experience in Software Testing / SDET roles.
- Strong programming skills in Python and working knowledge of Shell scripting (Bash).
- Hands-on experience in building and maintaining test automation frameworks.
- Experience testing REST APIs, backend systems, and/or mobile applications.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, debugging, and system design basics.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, Git, and defect tracking systems (e.g., Jira).
- Handle basic hardware troubleshooting & testing
Good to Have
- Experience with embedded systems testing or hardware-software integration.
- Exposure to cloud-native architectures and microservices.
- Background in Automotive, EV, Telecom, or Industrial domains.
- ISTQB or equivalent certification.
