As the Lead Software Development Engineer at PitchBook , you play a pivotal role as the engineering voice for a stream aligned team.

PitchBook s Lead Software Development Engineer is responsible for being the engineering voice for a stream aligned team, make the suite of products we offer the very best by building systems that are a combination of cutting-edge frameworks, tools, languages, cloud technologies, and people. Th is role drive s projects from design to implementation to maintenance with an eye for scalability, reducing technical debt, and accomplishing company goals.

Outline of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and lead a small team of software engineers.
  • Evangelizes better technical practices and continually raises the bar for technical excellence across the company .
  • Enhanc e large-scale distributed systems for website crawling and information extraction .
  • Us e cloud technology to create robust and scalable software systems .
  • Work directly with Product, UX, and Data Science teams to build cutting edge tools .
  • Helping establishes best practices around software development, microservices, and devops .
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors.
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested .

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in computer science , Information Systems, or a similar field.
  • 8 + years in Software Development or Engineering roles.
  • 8 + years of experience developing web services using C#/.NET, Web API, Dot Net Core.
  • Experience and desire to work directly across function and geography with product and design counterparts and be the point of contact for all technical related activities for the team.
  • Highly proficient in RESTful API design.
  • Highly experienced working within a development team in an Agile environment.
  • Ability to handle a project through the entire software development lifecycle, end to end.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and/or provide guidance to junior peers within the team.
  • Experienced with web technologies and standards (e.g., JSON, JWT).
  • Experienced with Relational Databases (MSSQL, Postgres).
  • Experienced with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Familiarity with Container orchestration software (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Familiarity with architecture trade-off analysis methods and domain-driven design preferred.

Working Conditions

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting . Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day . Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
