About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Senior Manager to lead the evolution of engineering capabilities supporting various AI initiatives. We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking AI Manager to lead artificial intelligence initiatives within our Enterprise Risk and Finance Technology organization. This role is responsible for driving innovation, shaping the AI strategy, and overseeing the development and implementation of AIpowered solutions that enhance risk management, controls, financial processes, and operational efficiency across the enterprise.

As a transformational leader, you will collaborate closely with agile teams and product managers to deliver impactful outcomes through cloudnative architectures and modern engineering practices. You will bring deep technical insight into all components of the solution landscape and leverage that expertise to guide strategic decisionmaking. You will champion process improvements, operational excellence, and scalable capacity planning to ensure the organization is equipped to meet ongoing technical and business demands.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology

  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release

  • Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy

  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards

  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement

  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed

  • Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk

  • Collaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices

  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering

  • Hire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML solutions that support Enterprise Risk, Compliance, and Finance functions.
  • Partner with Risk, Finance, Technology, and Data teams to identify highvalue use cases and translate business needs into scalable AI capabilities.
  • Drive innovation by introducing emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and best practices to improve decisionmaking, automation, and predictive insights.
  • Oversee execution of endtoend AI initiatives, from experimentation and prototyping to productionization and adoption.
  • Ensure AI solutions align with enterprise governance standards and support responsible, ethical AI practices.
  • Build and manage a highperforming AI team, fostering a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Track industry trends, evaluate relevant tools/platforms, and guide the organization's AI roadmap.
  • Drive agile and DevOps practices, acting as an escalation partner for teams, removing impediments, fostering experimentation, and enabling predictable delivery across moderate to highrisk initiatives.
  • Manage resources, vendors, and budgets, while building a strong talent pipeline and cultivating a culture that supports innovation and longterm organizational capability.
  • Previous experience building applications on platforms such as Archer or ServiceNow.
  • Strong understanding of Risk Assessments, Controls, and Testing and Monitoring frameworks within Corporate Risk Management.

Job Expectations:

  • 6+ years of IT experience, including 6+ years in software development and 3+ years in engineering leadership or people management.
  • Strong handson background of developing large scale enterprise applications.
  • Strong background in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related fields.
  • Experience in building and deploying AI-driven applications in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with Risk Management, Compliance, and/or Finance technology domains is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional programs and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
