What you'll do
- Lead & Mentor: Manage a cross-functional team of 5–8 engineers. Conduct 1:1s, provide actionable feedback, and chart career growth paths for your reports.
- Stay Hands-on: You are expected to contribute to the codebase, lead complex architectural discussions, and perform deep-dive code reviews. You should be able to unblock any engineer on your team technically.
- Drive Execution: Partner with Product Managers and Designers to turn the product roadmap into a sprint-ready backlog. Own the how and the when of delivery.
- Recruit & Scale: Actively participate in hiring to build a world-class engineering organization. Refine interview loops to identify top-tier talent.
- Process Excellence: Implement agile methodologies that work for a fast-paced startup—minimizing fluff and maximizing shipping velocity.

Qualifications
- 9+ years of total software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a formal people management or team lead role.
- Technical Depth: Expert-level proficiency in our stack (Node/Go/Python/React) and the ability to design complex distributed systems.
- People First: Proven track record of mentoring engineers and handling performance management with empathy and clarity.
- Operational Grit: Experience running production systems at scale, including managing on-call rotations and incident responses.
- Communication: Ability to shield your team from distractions while communicating technical risks clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
