FSR/LSR+ needs technical leadership to ensure engineering excellence, work with other technical leaders and product management, and transform future service scheduling experiences for Ford and Lincoln customers and dealers.You will provide hands-on engineering leadership to a growing team driving the delivery of world-class, best-in-class CX for FSR/LSR+ users. This role requires a leader who can technically mentor team members, contribute directly to design, problem-solving, and integrations, and champion an iterative development approach and business partners on MVP delivery through careful prioritization, managing demand, and coordinating dependencies.
This is a hybrid work opportunity which requires the selected individual to be onsite four days per week. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This is an Engineering leadership role overseeing the design and delivery of complex partner/Dealer Management Systems integrations with micro service ecosystem.
  • The FSR/LSR+ team is responsible for the systems and technology powering the Mobile Service scheduling Dealer Experience and customer service scheduling experiences for in-person, Pickup & Delivery, and Mobile Service on FordPass, Tier3Web sites, owner.ford.com for retail customers, enable Ford Pro business. and the other regional markets, as part of the holistic Omni-Channel, global, platform Commerce team
  • Model the use of modern software engineering practices (TDD BDD, CI/CD, Shift left, API first design language etc..) to support integration with existing Ford software products as well as external cloud-based services.
  • Be hands-on as required and help team with design, problem solving and integrations
  • Collaborate with Ford's Enterprise Architecture organization to rationalize technologies, further leverage current technology offerings already in use, and identify gaps/opportunities.
  • Implement a talent system to review existing team capabilities (internal and external) and build and promote practices to develop a world-class software engineering team.
  • Provide thought leadership for the development, structure, technology of Ford with skills in strategic planning, goal setting, processes development, and creating opportunities for professional development within technology teams.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, developers, and product owners, to define technical requirements and devise solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Continuously evaluate, collaborate with senior tech architects and integrate new GCP features, services, and technologies to enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of our cloud-native applications and infrastructure.
  • Strategize & work with senior leaders across Ford's engineering organization to make significant, measurable impact on a global scale by innovating and operating with an iterative, agile, and user-centric perspective.
  • Manage Global teams - Team members currently in US but footprint maybe extended to other regions in the future
  • Provide engineering leadership for CX and drive a world class best in class CX experience for FSR/LSR+
  • Help business partners understand iterative development approach and focus on delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and releases through careful and deliberate prioritization.
  • Initial team size will include around 10 positions of associates and purchased service capacity with external partners.
  • Provide technical mentoring to team members
  • Cross team collaboration with other teams in the portfolio

QUALIFICATIONS

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or eqivalent combination of relevamt education and experience.
  • 10 + years of hands-on experience in software engineering, programming, and solution design with technologies such as Java, React, Node.js, SQL and no SQL Databases and Cloud.
  • 4+ years of experience or awareness of microservices architecture, cloud-native architectures, event-driven architectures, APIs, domain-driven design, and public cloud (Google Cloud preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience with Customer Facing Applications/websites
  • 3+ years of experience in multiple programming languages, with thorough knowledge of multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing concepts, including scalability, performance, and consistency in a microservices-driven architecture , technical patterns
  • 3+ years+ of experience in leadership roles including having a strong technical background, with the ability to be hands-on, earn respect, and mentor top individual technical talent. Additional leadership skills may include:
  • Proven facilitation skills - able to effectively drive discussion among diverse perspectives and reach a decision or recommendation.
  • Effectively work with cross-functional teams across the organization - inside and outside of the technology and software organization
  • Ability to lead through change and ambiguity

Even better, you may have...

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Familiarity with serverless technologies, Kubernetes, Docker, and DevOps practices for building scalable, reliable, and available solutions, as well as performance testing.
  • Familiarity delivering Micro Front Ends using REACT/Node.js, React/Java and backend Micro services.
  • Experience with cloud-native systems, transactional systems, multi-tenancy, high availability (five-nines), and containerization technologies.
  • Experience in collaborating and partnering with other technical domain experts, such as cloud, security, SRE, and DevOps.
  • Experience or awareness in building structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data stores, with a solid understanding of RDBMS and No-SQL databases, and strong exposure to data modeling and data access patterns.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues related to cloud-native applications and infrastructure.
  • Ability to champion and drive hands-on implementation of AI driven solutions including but not limited to coding agents, CI/CD Optimizations etc.
