The Impact you will have in this role:
Seeking an experienced Principal Oracle Database Engineer with proven leadership in managing distributed teams, along with strong hands-on expertise in Oracle technologies across on-premises and AWS cloud environments, including RAC, Exadata, Data Guard, GoldenGate, RDS for Oracle, Oracle Database on AWS, and ZDLRA. The ideal candidate will also possess strong scripting skills in at least one programming language, with a demonstrated automation-first mindset.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead adistributed DBA engineering team(multiple direct reports)
- Operational leaderfor Database Engineering (incidents, escalations, stability)
- Serve as theday-to-day operations lead for Database Engineering
- Own and manageproduction escalations, major incidents, and resolution coordination
- Supportongoing delivery, releases, and engineering initiatives
- Resolvecomplex issues involving multiple dependencies
- Architect, design, and implement Oracle databases on AWS RDSto ensure data integrity, security, and near‑continuous availability for critical financial applications
- Perform database migrationsfrom on‑premises Oracle platforms toAWS RDS, ensuring performance, resiliency, and compliance post‑migration
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performanceusing AWR/ASH, RDS Performance Insights, CloudWatch, and OEM to meet Tier‑0/Tier‑1 SLAs
- Supporting applications usingData guard,RAC,andGoldengatemicroservices.
- Develop, review, and optimize database codeincluding PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, materialized views, and complex SQL
- Implement and maintain database security controls, including encryption (TDE), data masking, redaction, fine‑grained auditing, and access governance.
- Design and support disaster recovery solutionsusing RDS automated backups, snapshots, Multi‑AZ, and cross‑region strategies.
- Participate inproduction support, on‑call rotations, and incident escalationsto meet enterprise SLAs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 12+ years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
Talents Needed for Success:
- Hands‑on experience withAWS RDS for Oracle, Oracle Database on AWSand AWS services (CloudWatch, IAM, KMS, VPC, S3, EBS, EC2)
- Strong knowledge ofPL/SQL coding standards, performance tuning, and database internals
- Experience withOEM, Grafana, Goldengateand related database tooling
- Familiarity withAgile development methodologiesand DevOps collaboration models
- Experience withCI/CD pipelinesusing Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Maven, and Jira
- Proficiency inscripting and automation(Shell, Python, Ansible, Terraform)
- Solid understanding ofdata modeling, schema design, and performance‑driven architecture
- Deep expertise in Oracle RAC, Exadata, DataGuard and Oracle ZDLRA.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
