Job Description
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer – Vehicle Integration Design to lead vehicle-level packaging and integration activities across multiple vehicle systems. The role involves ownership of vehicle packaging, interface management, CAD integration, packaging feasibility studies, and ensuring successful delivery of vehicle programs throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle from Kick-Off (KO) to Start of Production (SOP).
The ideal candidate will work closely with BIW, Powertrain, Chassis, Interior, Electrical, Thermal, and Manufacturing teams to achieve optimized vehicle layouts, clash-free integration, regulatory compliance, serviceability, manufacturability, and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Own vehicle-level packaging and integration activities for:
- Engine Bay
- Underbody
- Cabin/Occupant Space
- Luggage/Storage Areas
- Develop and maintain vehicle package layouts, master sections, and vehicle architecture studies.
- Perform 2D packaging studies and 3D CAD integration using DMU tools.
- Define and manage interfaces between:
- Body in White (BIW)
- Powertrain Integration (PTI)
- Chassis Systems
- Interior Systems
- Electrical & Electronics Systems
- Thermal Systems
- Conduct:
- Packaging feasibility studies
- Tolerance stack-up analysis
- Clearances and gap assessments
- Ergonomic and serviceability evaluations
- Identify and resolve packaging clashes using digital mock-up (DMU) methodologies.
- Ensure adherence to vehicle packaging targets related to:
- Weight
- Cost
- Performance
- Manufacturability
- Serviceability
- Regulatory and Safety Requirements
- Support vehicle builds and validation phases including:
- Prototype Builds
- PV (Product Validation)
- PP (Production Prove-Out)
- SOP Readiness Activities
- Drive engineering deliverables through all NPI milestones from KO to SOP.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve design and integration issues.
- Prepare engineering reports, package reviews, interface documents, and design release documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline.
- 4 to 12 years of experience in Vehicle Packaging, Vehicle Integration, or Automotive Design Engineering.
- Strong understanding of:
- Vehicle Architecture
- Packaging Principles
- Vehicle Systems Integration
- Design Release Processes
- NPI Development Cycles
- Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as:
- CATIA V5/V6
- Siemens NX
- Creo
- Experience with:
- DMU Reviews
- 3D Packaging Studies
- Interface Management
- Tolerance Stack-up Analysis
- Knowledge of:
- GD&T
- DFMEA
- DFM/DFA
- Vehicle Regulations and Standards
- Familiarity with PLM tools such as:
- Teamcenter
- Windchill
- ENOVIA
