Job Title: Software Engineer (Telephony)
Location: Bangalore (WFO)
Work Type: Full-time
What You'll Do
- Own the SIP/RTP/media stack: design, build, and operate the telephony infrastructure that carries every Skit conversation
- Lead client integrations end-to-end — from kick-off call to production cutover — across SIP trunking, carriers, contact-center platforms, and enterprise PBXs
- Debug live VoIP issues by reading PCAPs, traces, and logs; build the tooling that makes this faster for the rest of the team
- Optimize for the things that matter to voice AI: latency, jitter, packet loss, codec quality, and call success rate
- Partner with the AI/platform teams on the SIP ↔ WebRTC ↔ media-AI boundary
- Write scripts/services (Python, Bash) to automate provisioning, monitoring, and incident response
- Be the technical voice in client conversations — explain trade-offs, run troubleshooting sessions, and own the integration outcome
Required
- 3+ years building or operating production VoIP/telecom systems
- Strong programming skills in Python or Bash
- Experience working with containerization systems like Docker, Kubernetes
- Deep, hands-on expertise with SIP, SDP, RTP, SRTP
- Production experience with tools like Kamailio, OpenSIPS, FreeSWITCH, or Asterisk
- Working knowledge of RTPEngine (or equivalent media proxy) for NAT/media handling
- Fluent debugging with sngrep, tcpdump, Wireshark, and PCAP analysis
- Experience integrating with cloud telephony providers (e.g. Twilio, Plivo, Telnyx, Exotel) and/or PSTN carriers via SIP trunks
- Strong written and verbal communication for collaboration with client engineering teams
