Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• SQL Query Development & Optimization:
• Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
• Optimize existing queries to enhance performance and efficiency when dealing with large datasets.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders:
• Work closely with data analysts, developers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into robust SQL-based solutions.
• ETL Process Design & Implementation:
• Design and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to move and transform data between various systems, ensuring data is properly cleaned and organized.
• Data Validation & Troubleshooting:
• Perform data validation, troubleshooting, and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and integrity across systems.
• Database Maintenance & Improvement:
• Maintain and improve existing databases while ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements to keep systems efficient.
• Documentation:
• Document code, processes, and data models to support scalability and maintainability for future development.
• Support for BI Tools:
• Work with Business Intelligence (BI) tools and support the development of dashboards and reports as needed for analytics purposes.

Requirements:

• Experience:
• 3+ years of proven experience as an SQL Developer or in a similar data engineering role.
• Strong SQL Skills:
• Expert-level knowledge of SQL and relational database systems (e.g., MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
• Proficiency in writing complex queries and working with large, complex datasets.
• Experience with performance tuning to optimize queries.
• ETL Tools & Data Pipelines:
• Experience designing and implementing ETL processes to move and transform data.
• Data Warehousing & BI:
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and experience with BI reporting and data analytics.
• Database Security & Backup:
• Solid understanding of database security, as well as backup and recovery procedures.
• Problem-Solving & Attention to Detail:
• Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Communication Skills:
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice to Have:

• Cloud Databases:
• Experience with cloud-based databases such as AWS RDS, Google BigQuery, or Azure SQL.
• Scripting/Analytics Tools:
• Knowledge of Python, Power BI, or other scripting/analytics tools for data processing and reporting.
• Agile or Scrum Experience:
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments, contributing to iterative and rapid development cycles.
