SDE-2 | Backend Engineering @ Porter
Build Systems That Move Cities.
At Porter, we're building the operating system for intra-city logistics in India. Every month, our platform powers 20M+ orders, supports 500K+ daily active drivers, and solves real-world problems at massive scale.
We're looking for high-ownership Backend Engineers (SDE-2) who want to build scalable systems, own production-critical services, and solve complex engineering challenges that directly impact millions of users.

What You'll Do
Build at Scale
- Design and develop scalable backend services and distributed systems
- Drive low-level design independently and contribute to architectural decisions
- Build reliable, observable, and performance-optimized systems
- Solve for scale, latency, failure handling, and operational excellence
Own Critical Systems
- Take end-to-end ownership of services — from design to production
- Improve monitoring, alerting, uptime, and engineering hygiene
- Lead debugging, RCA, and long-term reliability improvements
Drive Engineering Excellence
- Write clean, modular, production-grade code
- Apply strong DS & Algo fundamentals to real-world systems
- Use AI tools effectively while maintaining strong engineering judgment
- Raise the quality bar through code reviews and technical discussions
Create Real Business Impact

What We're Looking For
Must Have
- 2–5 years of software development experience
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals
- Experience building and shipping production systems
- Exposure to distributed systems / scalable backend services
- Strong problem-solving and system design skills
Tech Stack Exposure
- Java / Go / Python / Node.js (any strong backend stack)
- Distributed systems & cloud infrastructure
- Monitoring, alerting, observability, and performance tuning
