Software Engineer

This is an individual contributor role for a Full Stack Developer who will contribute towards the design and development of the Web application for an Internet Banking application that will be used by the IWM Business.

• Develop and maintain backend services using Jakarta Servlet, Spring, and related frameworks.
• Migrate legacy libraries (e.g. javax.servlet jakarta.servlet, Jackson, Apache POI, Log4j2, Hibernate Validator, HikariCP, Freemarker, Commons FileUpload) to their latest supported versions.
• Build responsive, secure front-end interfaces using React, replacing legacy jQuery-based UI components.
• Integrate third-party APIs and services
• Ensure application security, performance, and compliance standards required for banking systems.
• Collaborate with QA, Senior Development Lead, BA and Project Manager to ensure smooth migration and deployment.

• University degree in computer science or banking or equivalent working experience.
• 7-10 years of relevant working experience, preferably in the Technology space.

Java Skill Set

• • Strong experience with Java, Jakarta EE / Servlet API, and Spring framework.
  • Proficiency in React.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with Jackson (JSON processing), Apache POI (Excel/Office file handling), Log4j2 (logging), Hibernate Validator, and connection pooling (HikariCP).
  • Familiarity with file upload handling (Commons FileUpload).
  • Experience with legacy-to-modern framework migrations is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot is a plus, as this will be a future migration target for the platform.

React Skill Set

Core React Skills

• • JavaScript (ES6+) and/or TypeScript.
  • React fundamentals: components, JSX, props, state.
  • React Hooks (useState, useEffect, useContext, useMemo, useCallback, custom hooks).
  • Component lifecycle and rendering optimization.
  • State management (Context API, Redux, Zustand, or similar).
  • React Router (client-side routing/navigation).

Frontend Fundamentals

• • HTML5, CSS3 (including responsive design).
  • CSS frameworks/preprocessors (e.g. Tailwind, SASS, styled-components).
  • Cross-browser compatibility and accessibility (WCAG standards)

API & Data Handling

• • REST API integration (fetch/axios).
  • Handling asynchronous data (promises, async/await).
  • Form handling and validation (e.g. React Hook Form, Formik).

Tooling & Build

• • Package managers (npm/yarn).
  • Version control (Github).
  • Testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library).

Security & Compliance (Banking-Specific)

• • Secure coding practices (XSS/CSRF prevention).
  • Session/token handling (JWT, OAuth).
  • Familiarity with security review/audit processes common in financial institutions.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to work and organize with sense of urgency under multiple deadlines,
