Job Description :-
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior SDET to join the automation engineering team . The Application Under Test (AUT) is built entirely on a microservices architecture and is heavily event-driven, so the ideal candidate is comfortable testing distributed, asynchronous systems — not just traditional request/response UI or REST flows. This role blends API automation, message-driven/event testing, and UI automation, with a strong emphasis on Java fundamentals and Spring Boot–based tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automation frameworks for a microservices-based application, covering API, UI, and event-driven (asynchronous) test scenarios.
- Develop and extend Spring Boot–based test utilities to validate microservice behavior, service contracts, and inter-service communication.
- Automate and validate event-driven flows using Kafka, ActiveMQ, and other Message Queue (MQ) technologies — including producer/consumer validation, message schema checks, and end-to-end event traceability.
- Build API automation suites using Rest Assured on a Spring Boot base, verifying functional correctness, data integrity, and contract compliance across microservices.
- Develop and maintain UI automation using Playwright with Java as the primary tool / work confidently with Selenium (XPath-based locators) where required on existing suites.
- Implement and maintain BDD test suites using Cucumber, ensuring scenarios are readable, maintainable, and aligned with business requirements.
- Write clean, efficient Java code leveraging Collections and Java Streams for data manipulation, test data setup, and assertion logic.
- Integrate and maintain automation suites within Maven-based build pipelines and TestNG execution frameworks, ensuring reliable CI/CD execution.
- Collaborate with developers and DevOps to embed automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, enabling fast, reliable feedback on microservice and event-driven changes.
- Troubleshoot test failures across service boundaries, including tracing issues through asynchronous/message-driven flows.
Required Technical Skills
- Microservices Testing: Strong hands-on experience testing microservices-based applications; understanding of service boundaries, contracts, and inter-service dependencies.
- Spring Boot: Working knowledge of Spring Boot, sufficient to build and extend Spring Boot–based test utilities and API automation frameworks.
- Event-Driven / Messaging Testing: Practical experience testing event-driven systems using Kafka, ActiveMQ, and/or other Message Queue technologies.
- API Automation: Strong experience with Rest Assured for REST API test automation; comfortable validating request/response contracts, status codes, schemas, and data assertions.
- UI Automation: Proficiency with Playwright (Java) is preferred; strong working knowledge of Selenium WebDriver with XPath-based element location is also acceptable.
- BDD Framework: Experience implementing and maintaining test suites using Cucumber (BDD).
- Core Java: Strong command of Java fundamentals, especially Collections framework and Java Streams — must be able to write clean, efficient programs using these constructs (this is evaluated as a core skill).
- Build & CI/CD Tools: Hands-on experience with Maven for build management and TestNG as the test execution framework, integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
Good to Have
- Exposure to Docker for containerized test environments or service deployment.
- Exposure to Kubernetes for orchestration/deployment awareness in a microservices context.
