Software Engineer in Test

ROLE SUMMARY

We are hiring an SDET 1 to join our QA team. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in Manual Testing, Mobile Testing, and API Testing, with the ability to leverage AI-powered tools for smarter testing. A Product Thinking mindset — understanding how quality impacts real users — is highly valued. Automation knowledge is an added advantage.

We expect high ownership and high output from this role. You will serve as a quality gate for

the application — no feature ships without your sign-off. You must take end-to-end accountability for the quality of your assigned modules, proactively identify risks, and deliver consistent, fast-paced testing output without compromising on depth or accuracy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manual Testing

- Design and execute test cases, test plans, and regression suites across functional and non-

functional requirements.

- Perform exploratory, smoke, sanity, and integration testing.

- Log and track defects with clear reproduction steps in Jira or equivalent tools.

- Participate in requirement reviews, sprint planning, and grooming sessions.

Mobile Testing

- Test native (iOS/Android) and hybrid mobile apps across devices, OS versions, and screen sizes.

- Validate mobile-specific flows — push notifications, deep linking, permissions, gestures,

offline/online behavior.

- Perform device compatibility testing using real devices and cloud platforms (BrowserStack,

Sauce Labs).

API Testing

- Design and execute API test cases for REST/GraphQL APIs using Postman, REST Assured, or

similar tools.

- Validate payloads, status codes, headers, authentication (OAuth, JWT), and error handling.

- Perform integration testing and data validation against backend databases.

AI Adaptive Usage

- Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Applitools) for test case generation, defect

analysis, and test data creation.

- Apply AI-driven insights for intelligent test prioritization and risk-based testing.

- Stay updated on emerging AI/ML trends in software testing.

Product Thinking

- Understand the product vision, user personas, and business goals to test beyond just

specifications.

- Think like an end user — identify usability issues, UX friction, and confusing workflows.

- Prioritize testing on revenue-critical flows (checkout, payments, sign-up) and correlate defects

with business impact.

- Review customer feedback (support tickets, app store reviews) to identify recurring quality

issues.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Manual Testing - Test planning, test case design, defect lifecycle, regression & UAT

Mobile Testing - Hands-on iOS & Android testing (native/hybrid apps)

API Testing - Postman / REST Assured; REST, JSON, HTTP methods

AI Tools - Experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot) for test generation or bug analysis

Product Thinking - User-first mindset; understanding of product & business context

Bug Tracking - Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar

Agile - Working knowledge of Scrum methodology

Education - B.E./B.Tech in CS, IT, or related field

GOOD TO HAVE
