As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank'sRisk Central Tech team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm's state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develop data quality rules and controls for data.
  • Provide Level 3 (L3) support for production systems, addressing complex issues and ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Support BAU (Business As Usual) operations for Markets businesses, leveraging previous experience in similar environments.
  • Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Create secure and high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met during software code development.
  • Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to drive continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
  • Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data, using these insights to drive improvements and optimizations in code and system architecture.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
  • Strong coding skills in Java / Python, SQL.
  • Experience in ReactJS/JavaScript
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud data management, including Redshift, DynamoDB, Aurora, and Databricks.
  • Proficiency in automation, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
  • Experience in system design, application development, and operational stability.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and shell scripting.
  • Provide Level 3 (L3) support for production systems and support BAU operations for Markets businesses.
  • Understanding of data modeling challenges in big data environments.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of financial data and front office investment banking.
  • Experience developing APIs and foundational components.
  • Strong SDLC mindset and familiarity with agile paradigms.
  • Experience within DevOps, Infrastructure design, and transformation roles.
  • Comfortable working across different platforms and languages.
