How will you make an impact in this role

American Express Global Card Network Platform authorizes and processes all of the company's customer card transactions. The Card Network platform is the critical back bone for all of American Express card transactions and is a near real time low latency system that is always available and highly resilient, processing transactions from around the world 24x7, 365 days a year. American Express is making strategic investments in new card network products and platforms to allow the company to meet its ambitious global growth agenda. American Express is looking for strong leaders and engineers to be part of high energy and efficient teams that will build and support our next generation card network systems.

Key Initiatives:

• Card Network Authorizations/Routing, Card Tokenization, Clearing and Settlement
• Omni-channel platforms and partner connectivity management
• Data Localization and Regulatory Compliance
• ATM, Debit, Credit and Push Payment Transactions, Real Time Settlement
• Platform Engineering and Foundational Capabilities of distributed systems
• High Availability, Resiliency and Performance Engineering on Cloud

As Software Engineer you will be building core features and functions of card transaction systems on distributed platform deployed in the cloud. Actively participating in agile teams and the latest development practices, writing code and unit tests, working with API specs and automation while working on Java Technologies and React framework to drive innovation while also finding opportunities for adopting new technologies.

Responsibilities Include:

• Minimum 3 years of software development experience in a professional environment working with Java technologies - Vert.x, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful micro services, PostgreSQL, Couchbase, Kafka, and RESTful API's.
• Good familiarity and skills in frontend technologies, like JavaScript, React, Bootstrap, etc.
• Hands-on experience with application design, software development and automated testing
• Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, relational or NoSQL databases.
• Ability to effectively interpret technical and business objectives and challenges and eloquent solutions.
• Ability to learn and investigate new technology and business domains, question status quo and think outside of the box.
• Ability to debug basic software components and identify code defects for remediation.
• Experience working in Agile or other rapid application development methods.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Degree in computer science, computer science engineering or confirmed experience.
