About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role is pivotal in creating datasets that enable LLMs to handle realistic software engineering problems. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of high-quality public GitHub repositories and have hands-on experience in software development, environment automation, and issue triaging. Your contributions will directly influence the development of verifiable software engineering tasks based on synthetic approaches and human-in-the-loop methodologies, expanding the dataset coverage across various programming languages and difficulty levels.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript. Strong familiarity with version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and basic software pipeline setup is essential. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to understand, navigate, and modify complex codebases, as well as test and run real-world projects locally. Experience contributing to open-source projects or evaluating open-source repositories is highly desirable. Additional skills in automation, environment setup, and collaborative problem-solving will be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenging tasks for LLMs.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment management.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and assess code quality to ensure dataset robustness.
- Modify and execute codebases locally to test LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to design and select repositories and issues that push the boundaries of LLM capabilities.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and ensuring project milestones are met.
