About the Role

We are hiring frontend engineers at Whatfix who are passionate about building intuitive, high-quality user experiences enhanced by GenAI. Our POD-agnostic approach allows us to evaluate candidates purely on frontend depth, engineering mindset, and problem-solving ability. Final team alignment is thoughtfully done based on skills, interview outcomes, and product needs. You'll contribute to experiences used by millions, with a strong focus on performance, usability, and scale.

E4 Expectation (Equivalent SDE 2):

Hands-on frontend engineer with strong fundamentals in modern frameworks, UI engineering, and a growing ability to build scalable, maintainable interfaces.

Our Team:

The Engineering team at Whatfix provides end-to-end engineering throughput that forms part of core platforms and services that drive Whatfix's business. Our team is responsible for creating the Customer Platform and everything around it - be it Analytics, Infrastructure, or Core Algorithms. The team owns and is responsible for all pieces that we design, build and support end to end for Whatfix product/ business.

Our product is built around a core of JAVA with enterprise businesses using the Whatfix system. On a monthly basis, millions of interactive guides are processed. Building, testing, and deploying to any of our environments are as simple as pushing a commit to a git branch. We like to keep our technology up-to-date. All of the technology is built and maintained by this small development team, so from day 1, the software you write will be used by people from all over the world.

Key Responsibility:

  • Design and develop highly scalable, reliable and fault tolerant systems for one of the world's fastest growing startups
  • Understand the customer needs; design & implement
  • Envision project goals, product architectural solutions with a high focus on detail to ensure successful implementation
  • Articulate complex problems communicating viable architecture and design approaches in a clear and concise manner
  • Enhance the agile SDLC within the Development Team through new learning, continued growth, and applying industry best practices and processes
  • Occasionally participate in customer demos & provide inputs wherever required
  • Keep optimizing & automating mundane tasks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4-7 years of experience as a full-stack developer
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScipt, and Java.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Must-Have:

  • Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, SCSS, TypeScript & JavaScript. (must have)
  • Proficient in building user interfaces with React and its ecosystem (React Router, Server-side Rendering, Context API, React Hooks) (must have)
  • Webpack build tool with module federation & Micro front-end architecture experience is a plus
  • Web extension development experience (preferred)
  • In-depth understanding of cross-browser compatibility and solutions
  • Experience with backend development (Java preferred)
  • Experience building microservice using frameworks like Spring and microservice architecture
  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced environment, preferably for internet companies, products, or startups
  • Strong grasp of design principles and their practical application
  • Eager to learn and thrive in a collaborative team environment

Good to Have:

  • Experience building or integrating AI-driven product features in SaaS or enterprise environments.
  • Exposure to GenAI technologies such as LLMs, vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS), or RAG-based architectures.
  • Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or OpenAI API integrations.
  • Knowledge of information retrieval, embeddings, or semantic search.
  • Hands-on work with content or data systems (SharePoint, Confluence, internal wikis, etc.)
