About
Upscrape builds the infrastructure layer that companies use to access public web data reliably. Instead of every company building fragile scrapers internally, we provide production-grade APIs and data systems they can depend on. Our clients include enterprise and mid-market companies across industries.
We work across the full data lifecycle, from extraction and transformation to delivery through production-grade APIs. The problems we solve are technically deep: handling sites that change frequently, maintaining reliability across millions of data points, and building systems that clients can depend on without thinking about what's running behind them.
Web data infrastructure is becoming a core dependency for AI systems, analytics platforms, and automation products. We're building the layer that makes that possible reliably.
The role
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Bangalore.
You'll build and maintain core infrastructure at Upscrape. Scraping systems, data pipelines, and production APIs that our clients integrate into their workflows. You'll work directly with the founders, join client calls, and ship production code.
This is a hands-on engineering role with high ownership. You won't just execute on specs someone else wrote. You'll have input into how systems are designed and built, and you'll grow into more responsibility quickly.
What you'll do
- Build resilient web data extraction systems. Playwright, Puppeteer, HTTP-based scrapers, headless browsers, proxy rotation, handling bot protections and rate limits. You'll work against complex targets and systems that remain resilient as websites change.
- Build and ship APIs. Clean, documented, production-grade APIs that our clients integrate into their products and depend on daily.
- Build and maintain data pipelines. From raw HTML to structured, clean, delivered data. You'll work on pipeline architecture, handle transformations, and build monitoring to catch breakages early.
- AI-assisted engineering. We use AI tools (Cursor, Claude, Codex) as part of daily engineering workflows to increase speed and iteration velocity.
You'll also get exposure to
- Client conversations. You'll join calls with enterprise clients alongside the founders, understand their data requirements, and translate them into working systems.
- System design. As you ramp up, you'll have increasing input into how we architect our infrastructure and what we build next.
- Product thinking. Understanding why clients need certain data and how they use it will shape how you build.
What we're looking for
- 1–2 years of engineering experience (or strong equivalent through projects or open-source work). If you have strong foundations and have built something meaningful on your own, that matters more than years on a resume. That said, this role is not for someone entirely new to writing and shipping code.
- Strong Python skills. This is our primary language. You should be comfortable writing, debugging, and optimizing Python.
- Experience with web scraping or strong interest in it. If you've dealt with Cloudflare, understand and worked with undocumented APIs, or built a scraper that survived a site redesign, we want to talk. If you haven't but you're the kind of person who would enjoy it, that works too.
- Comfortable with infrastructure. Docker, cloud deployments (AWS/GCP), databases (Postgres, Redis), task queues, cron jobs. You don't need to be a DevOps expert, but you should be comfortable working with these.
- You ship. You care about working software in production, not perfect architecture on a whiteboard.
What you get
- Salary depending on experience and what you bring to the table.
- Hybrid role, based in Bangalore. A mix of in-office and remote, with flexibility on how you structure your week.
- Direct line to the founders.
- Meaningful work from day one. You'll ship things that clients use, not internal tools nobody looks at.
- Compensation and responsibility will scale with impact as the company grows. We're growing, and the people who help us get there will grow with us.
