Position Overview

Autodesk is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team focused on shaping the future of Fusion Factory solutions.We are looking for a person who is enthusiastic about delivering innovative solutions aimed at providing a Device Independent experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of software development for desktop and web applications.

FlexSim is a discrete event manufacturing simulation software developed by FlexSim Software Products, Inc. FlexSim is 3D simulation software that models, simulates, predicts, and visualizes business systems in a variety of industries: manufacturing, material handling, healthcare, warehousing, mining, logistics, and more. It uses an OpenGL environment to realize real-time 3D rendering and it is declared to be the only simulation software that incorporates a C++ IDE and compiler in the graphic modelling environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance native software components using modern C++

  • Contribute to the core FlexSim simulation engine, modeling frameworks, and platform architecture

  • Develop scalable, maintainable, and efficient software using object-oriented design principles and modern C++ best practices

  • Build and enhance simulation, visualization, interoperability, and manufacturing-focused capabilities

  • Design and implement robust APIs, SDKs, extensibility frameworks, and system integrations

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving performance, memory management, threading, and system behavior

  • Analyze and optimize CPU utilization, memory consumption, scalability, and application responsiveness

  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and code reviews

  • Collaborate with Product Management, UX, QA, and globally distributed engineering teams to deliver customer-focused solutions

  • Contribute to automated testing, release engineering, CI/CD, and software quality initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field

  • 3+ years of industry experience building and delivering robust, performant, and maintainable commercial applications

  • Strong professional experience developing software in C++

  • Deep understanding of native application development and systems-level software engineering

  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles

  • Experience with modern C++ standards (C++14/17/20)

  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using native development tools and techniques

  • Experience working with multi-threaded, event-driven, and performance-critical applications

  • Familiarity with software architecture, design patterns, and large-scale codebases

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex technical challenges with a strong focus on quality and maintainability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing commercial desktop applications or engineering software products

  • Familiarity with CAD, simulation, manufacturing, digital twins, or visualization technologies

  • Experience with SDK development, APIs, plugins, and extensibility frameworks

  • Knowledge of graphics, geometry, rendering, or 3D application development

  • Experience with databases, cloud-connected services, and distributed systems

  • Exposure to DevOps, automated testing, and modern software delivery practices
