To assume responsibility for delivering high-quality data engineering and BI solutions, including robust SQL development, scalable data pipelines and BI reporting solutions, to enhance data accessibility and improve the quality and speed of decision-making across the business.
Key Accountabilities
Deliver and maintain BAU BI reporting, ensuring outputs remain accurate, reliable and delivered within agreed deadlines, supported by high-quality underlying data pipelines and models.
Develop and implement new BI reporting requirements by designing or enhancing data engineering solutionsincluding data pipelines, data models and ETL/ELT processesas well as any associated system or process changes, ensuring delivery to a high standard and within agreed timelines.
Ensure the accuracy, integrity and availability of data used across BI reports by maintaining and optimising data warehouse structures, resolving data quality issues, and collaborating with relevant business and technical stakeholders.
Continuously improve data and reporting processes by identifying opportunities for automation, optimisation and standardisation across data pipelines, models and reporting workflows, reducing manual effort and minimising business continuity risks.
Provide technical support, documentation and knowledge sharing to BI and data team members to ensure collective understanding of data engineering processes, data structures and reporting logic, enabling consistent delivery of BI outputs.
Perform ad-hoc data analysis and investigations using engineered datasets, SQL and analytical tools to support business decision-making and diagnose data or reporting issues as required.
Skills and Experience | Essential
3+ years of SQL, data engineering and BI development experience, with strong capability in designing and optimising data solutions.
Excellent SQL skills, including advanced T-SQL for complex queries, views, stored procedures, indexing, optimization and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for building, orchestrating and maintaining scalable data pipelines.
Experience of Microsoft Azure BI and data components
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modelling principles and data warehousing best practices.
Experience with SQL Server (2012/2008R2), including creation and deployment of production databases, job scheduling and maintenance.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel
Able to operate in a fast paced commercially driven business environment - must be able to prioritise workloads effectively
Stakeholder engagement - experience of managing multiple business areas and stakeholders (to senior management level) with the ability to capture and shape business requirements
Exceptional attention to detail, logical thinking and a high level of accuracy in all technical work.
Demonstrates initiative, ownership and a strong passion for data engineering and BI.
Skills and Experience | Desirable
Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), including Project and Package deployment models.
Working knowledge of C# or other programming/scripting languages, beneficial for automation and advanced data engineering tasks.
Experience with data visualisation platforms (Power BI or Tableau), including building interactive dashboards, data models and report automation.
